When you don't feel comfortable in social situations, it can make you feel lonely.

However, having a good social connectivity is important to one's health and well being. And, to have it, at times one pretend to be the one they aren't. So, how could people like me learn to deal with social anxiety without pretending to be the one they aren't.

You know people who are socially anxious, they aren't anxious about the judgment others will have about them. But, they fear of what if that judgment is correct. And, thinking so make them reveal their flaws.

One might be thinking there is something wrong with him and not ready to face it from front. Because one believe that if they do, they will be rejected, huimliated or exposed.

Relying mostly to avoid or ignore to deal with social anxiety. But, this strategy not work 100% effectively. So, what could we do?

#1. Take baby steps. The problem is the more we avoid things due to anxiety, it results in greater fear and anxiety grows. So, rather than trying to avoid, take baby steps to deal with it and repeat them again and again until the fear fades away. Like, public speaking, you might feel fear 99 times, but 100th time, you will overcome it.

#2. Accept the way you're. When you're socially anxious, you will try to avoid to reveal yourself. You may avoid eye contact, meet in person, smiling to cover your fear. So, rather than avoiding fear, accept it. Make eye contact, if you are not comfortable to smile, keep yourself as you are. Be in your skin.

#3.Practice self-compassion. Self compassion can help to soothe your mind and address the negative emotions that come with social anxiety. It consists of being mindful and accepting of your thoughts and feelings. Feed yourself with kind messages. Self compassion helps to reduce the social anxiety. Self compassion will remind you that social interactions is a learning process and practicing is the key.

Social anxiety used to be quite debilitating for me from when I was a child all the way up to high school. However, in college, talking speech class, doing presentations, and just pushing myself to be more interactive and exude confidence. It definitely took a lot of baby steps (and years!), because I was forcing myself. But now, I remember who I am, accept it, and just go with it and don't really struggle anymore with social anxiety!
