Mindfulness weekly idea May 5-11 2019

We are always breathing, but we are not always aware of our breathing. Breathing is a mindfulness tool that will help us to calm and sooth ourselves. By focusing on our breathing, we can bring ourselves into the present moment.
Mindful breathing is very simple.
First, find a quiet area to sit down. This can be a chair or the ground.
Start by closing your eyes and concentrating on your breath.
Notice how easily you breath, how natural it is.
Notice how slowly or quickly you are breathing. Observe how your shoulders, chest and back contract and expand with each breath.
Continue to breath naturally, try not to interrupt, interfere with, or change your breathing. Be aware of your breath. Feel the air pass as you inhale and exhale. Continue to notice and concentrate on your breathing.
When feelings, thoughts, images and other sensations come into your awareness as you breath, just observe them and let them pass on. Then focus again on your breathing. Do not judge yourself if you find that you get distracted. Simply bring your attention back to the breathing.
As you become calmer, start to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. While you do this continue your own natural breathing rhythm.
Take notice of how the air feels when you breath in, then down to your lungs, then out through your mouth.
Remember to allow thoughts, images or feelings to simply pass on.
Now that you have been mindful of your breathing, slowly bring your attention back to the room. How do you feel?

@admaiorasemper Hey there! I really liked this post and I must tell you I loved the beautiful dandelions! Thanks for this.
What was the most challenging aspect of mindful breathing?
It gets difficult sometimes to calm the mind, if my day is super busy and I start stressing, just finding time to sit and silence my mind and breathe is challenging for me.
What did you notice during the breathing?
That I was slowly calming down, my mind wasn't racing anymore and I was aware of everything around me, I felt calm
What time of day or night do you think would be best to practice mindfulness breathing?
All the time honestly, but maybe for me during the middle of the day when I feel I need a break and need to re focus myself
@Ladyofthesea458
I'm glad you liked the post and that it was helpful! It's great that you managed to calm down by breathing mindfully. As you say, sometimes it is challenging to find time to just sit and breath. This reminds us how important it is to establish regular self-care practices :)
@admaiorasemper
This is great! And I love the photo by the way! Really pretty!
Thanks for the add on this one, this is surely something I will like to give a try as I keep saying I want to practice Mindfulness alot more! ...I'd certainly like to see more of these and would participate in them as well if I see I'm tagged!
@PoliteOcean
I'm glad you find this useful. I'm going to post the next weekly idea soon, hope that will be useful too.
