What am I doing with mindfulness? Practicing or Worrying??
Practicing Mindfulness daily-weekly-monthly yearly for many of years I have learned to ask myself this one important questionpracti What am I practicing? Am I practicing feeling stressed out? Anxious? Depressed? Overwhelmed? Discouraged? More often than I would like to admit.... the answer is yes, I am practicing one or more of these unpleasant emotions.
But I keep practicing............When you are practicing a new language, or the words to a song, or to ride a bicycle, or to do math problems, your get better and better the more you practice. This is good news!
I have heard from many of members here that mindfulness they can't do- it triggers something in them. So I challenge some and others think on this....
"What am I doing with mindfulness?"
"What is making me so uncomfie?"
Please share questions or anything you need to-to maybe take that first step into mindfulness

For me when I'm listening to the recordings in mindfulness section it's more about gently letting the recording tell my thoughts where to go so I don't have to worry about forgetting what I was doing when my mind wanders. Some of the recordings work better than others and I can see how some would not work for all people all of the time. It does seem though as long as one has functioning ears they could listen to it and breath virtually anywhere with some headphones (not while driving though unless you're sure it will only help focus what you're doing instead of causing a sleepy feeling). So for me it's less about keeping suffering as the focal point which seems to me to be the worst thing to aim for. Only learning to accept the existance of those feelings enough for myself to move on from them easier.
@CoinFountain
Hi Coin very nice to see you here today
Thank you for sharing on this. So am I understanding you right, when you listen to mindfulness exercises your thoughts are with other things you feel, need to do or other things?
@RumpleSteeleSkin
When I'm listening my mind does drift now and then but the audio helps bring mind back to the breath and remembering to experience the here and now and that calmer space in the back of my mind instead of being overwhelmed with racing thoughts or whatever thoughts aren't helpful that drift through that busier part of my head.
Also if there's a problem I need to "reflect" on to figure out how to get past it makes my thinking much less cluttered or worry inducing while listening. It helps sort out the noise from the positive constructive possible responses instead of leading to potentially harmful impulsive reactions based on negative emotions. It helps to pick out the positive instead of grabbing hold of the negative being at a loss for what else to do. It also helps me ease daily anxiety so that I don't have a panic attack as often.
