Cooking with Limited Ingredients

Ever tried cooking a meal without knowing what’s in your pantry?
You light the stove, open the fridge, then realize... you’re missing half the ingredients. But you keep going, hoping what you’ve got will somehow make a meal.
That’s what it's like when we go into relationships with unset expectations.
We assume others know what we need—and hope they’ll offer support, kindness, or space. Without clearly defined boundaries—our emotional ingredients—they’re just guessing what to bring to the table.

When we know our ingredients, we can speak up for the things we need—and what we can do without.
Next time something leaves a bad taste in your mouth, ask yourself:
- Did I set expectations?
- Did I define my boundaries?
- Did I communicate clearly?
Sprinkle in some compassion flour as needed—with just a dash of forgiveness.
Cooking is all about trial and error.
And boundaries?
They're recipes we refine over time.
