Thoughtful Thursday: Using mindfulness to overcome and assuage anxiety
Hey all,
So having cultivated mindfulness through meditation the last few years, I've noticed that *being* mindful has been really helpful towards managing my anxiety and just my overall mental health on top of that.
I've been both pleasantly (and yet unexpectedly) surprised at the calming benefits that come from simply taking stock of what I'm feeling, where I'm feeling, and where it's coming from (the why). There have been many times that I have lessened my anxiety or been able to co-exist with it more peacefully just from further understanding, if that makes sense.
Has mindfulness helped any of you to manage your anxiety (or another aspect of your mental health)?
Yes, it helps it makes you assess your thoughts but its hard to maintain... Do you have tips on that?

That's a great question, and thank you for asking!!
I would say that any tip I had for maintaining mindfulness has a lot to do with the fact that we, as human beings, are creatures of habit. So extrapolating from that, I would say that you (as in anyone) have to start from somewhere. And that's to make (and want to make) mindfulness a habit.
For myself, what really kick-started that habit was easy-to-follow guided meditations on YouTube. Because in essence, meditating is all about being mindful, and I've noticed that the greatest gift from that has been being able to take that mindfulness *with* me, if that makes sense.
