When a mother is overwhelmed, people often jump to fixing: advice, solutions, silver linings, or “at least…” Most of the time, what helps first is feeling understood. Emotional support is a skill, and you don’t need perfect words. You need steady, non-minimizing language.

The goal is to help her feel: seen (you get it), safe (no judgment), not alone (you’re with her), and less burdened (you’re not making her perform “okay”).
