Cultivating Presence in a Distracted World
Skill from IDG: Presence (Being – Relationship to Self)
In this busy world of multitasking with distractions from phones and responsibilities, the IDG framework describes Presence is "the ability to be in the here and now, without judgments and in a state of open-ended awareness."
Practicing presence does not mean shutting down our future and past; it means we have given our full attention to what is happening right now. Whether it is engaging in deep listening to another person, noticing your breath, or taking a moment of stillness, presence creates a space for growth, clarity and connection.
🌀 Let's reflect together:
When was the last time you felt fully present? What allowed you to get there?
What are some little forms of practice you have used to help ground you in the moment?
@savanaah
I am ever-presence.
Something that helped me get to where I am now is mindfulness practices.
The best skill I learned for getting present is reflecting on past experiences and the thoughts and feelings they evoked.
This allowed me to be more aware when those same thoughts and feeling emerged in the present moment. Also, tracking a pattern through various journal entries (tallying highs and lows) helped me see the pattern from an analytical perspective which made me feel a bit nerdy and fueled my intellectual side. 🧐
