SELF-ACCOUNTABILITY; holding yourself accountable
Happy Sunday teamates! 💜
hope everyone is doing great! 😊 for those concerned, I'm doing so much better than the last time I posted here.
today I wish to talk about self-accountability, but firstly what's that? what exactly does it means? self-accountability simply means that you're taking responsibility for your actions and behaviours without pointing fingers on others. it means you're fulfilling your obligations, tasks, and goals without excuses, and, if an unexpected challenge arises, being accountable means you can focus on a solution without blaming others.
so, my question to you all is, how do you hold yourself accountable when you're unable to fulfil your obligations/goals?
@chyni I have no idea how to answer this question😕sorry! But I'm so glad your feeling better. And welcome back ❤❤ hugggs you tightly ❤
Welcome back Chyni. Glad to hear you're doing better.
Concerning self-accountability, I've been trying for the past 3 months and I'm not getting anywhere. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong and it gets Soo frustrating at times 😅
@chyni
Hi Chyni!
Great topic!
I focus more on the time I spend on the necessary tasks, the parts of a project, than on achieving the final goal.
It makes me less anxious and more productive.
I time myself with apps like Toggl Track and Brain Focus. Or just on writing.
I review how much time I spent on the assigned tasks compared to the target time.
Particularly when I am doing a project important to me.
If I fall short of the target time spent, I try to find the cause, some pattern, time-wasting activities, etc.
And then try to make corrections.
I take the review as a way to better plan from now on into the future. Not for self-blaming.
The past is gone, nothing can change it, so no use in regrets or self-blame.
In the short term, I reward myself with doing things I enjoy after completing some scheduled time of work. Say, 3 hours of focused work, then play a puzzle game.
If I don't fulfill those 3 hours, there is no reward.
That might be a way of short-term self-accountability.
In general, my approach is breaking down large tasks into smaller ones, assigning time I must spend on each one, and reviewing my use of time. Learning from that analysis, and making corrections in order to better move forward.
@HealingTalk
