Stepping aside is great wisdom. It is not running away. There numeous wise qualities of stepping aside.
What do you think are a couple of things that determine if we should step aside or be stubborn in regards to running away..... if that makes any sense?
P.S. No pictures of my garden plans coming...... i don't have the time to play with planting. 🙄.

@IsayUncle Hmm if what makes us want to run away is fuelled by fear, anxiety or self-doubt then maybe we should stay and see how much more we can push. If it's the thought of failing that makes us want to avoid the risk entirely, maybe we should stay. If there's no solid reason to walk away other than escaping the discomfort then I think staying would be the right thing to do.
We can consider stepping aside if we’ve honestly thought about our needs, values and capacity right now, thought about how this will affect us in the long term (kinda hate thinking about long-term things lol they change everything).
I think it's also important to know that just because you can handle the challenge doesn't mean you should, just to prove something, when there's another path available. Sometimes decisions should be made to feel peace and clarity and not just relief. I feel sometimes we hold on so tight cause we don't believe that we can start from the beginning again. Or because of the 'what ifs' that we never get a chance to do this again.

How are you doing with your "stepping aside" things this week?
There are only so many hours in a day and it's a lot easier to do the comfortable things, even some of the harder things that don't create uncertaintay. Gross Uncertainty about all the entanglements makes it unbearable sometimes.
You covered so many good points in your paragraph and I agreed with them all. Just trying to figure out if we step aside from something, is it because it's not worth addressing and we should just let it go or for honest with ourselves, is it just too uncomfortable and if other people are involved it can be very awkward.
Is there a heavy baggage item that is weighing you down in paticular?
I've had a feaw for a couple of years and i fought with ego and cowardice (fear). tryin to determine the truth of the actual importance of the situation.
Stepping aside +/- (importance or significance) To us or to another???
I'm sorry , my brain is too tired to make a lot of sense, but i know what you mean.

I've almost convinced myself that I'm not going to run away. This will be a big change but I don't see any growth in staying the same.

Other people's involvement does make things awkward. I guess there's no one answer fits all, when it comes to this 'do or don't'.
For the heavy baggage item, you see I've been labelled a runner before xD I think the fear of more judgment is what's clouding my decision. What was the outcome for you?

We both have so much we can learn from each other. i can tell this just by your consistent sincere dialog. it's honest. that is so refreshing.
And ur way cooler than me because i love seeing your banter with others. they make me smile. i can't do that so easily.
Soooooo...... kind of convinced yourself not to run from something. That's great.We can talk more about this with a fresh week coming and a fresh start. You can definetly put that armor on monday morning and take the battle to it. Slay that dragon!

@BlueDarkAurora I think that when things start to affect our mental health for the worse that's the time we should probably step aside. Sounds easy....

Not sure if I should aim high this week. Have to deal with the joys of being a girl this week and this morning my door key broke so I couldn't lock the door. Then my work computer claimed it couldn't find the hard drive so I had to restart. Will have to recover the documents that were open. I have no idea what else will happen...

@mytwistedsoul I think my brother has a copy of the key. Just hard to get a hold of him. Didn't respond the last time I sent a message. The apartment office has a spare key but I don't know if they have the capability to duplicate it. If course there's a Home Depot a few streets down that can...
So no response which is what I expected. This is why I don't talk. I had messaged my mom first thinking she could get a hold of him better. I'm just going to have to go to the office and explain what happened.
I don't want to leave my door unlocked another day.
@Enthenia Wow. No offense to your brother but he could have at least replied back to you. Yeah I just borrow the one from the office and have a copy made. Maybe two just in case. I'm not sure what it costs to have a key made though. Yeah I wouldn't want to leave the doors unlocked either 😬
@mytwistedsoul they made a new one at the office. I didn't know they could do that. It was raining pretty heavily (lent the office guy my umbrella so he could go and have maintenance make a key.)
I got a message from my brother and I replied. I don't know if the SMS reached him or not. Think I had trouble with sending him messages before. I sent him one on FB but got no response there either so I guess it's just him not replying.
Kind of why I don't try to strike up a conversation to begin with.
Have to redo my final assignment. Forgot to check the announcement section for additional instructions again. Hopefully I can find time to do it. It looks really involved and I kept getting thrown things at work too.
@Enthenia It's great that they could make one in the office! That saved a trip to a store to have one made.
@mytwistedsoul well he never replied to the text I sent in response. He works at a grocery store and he wanted to know if he could get me anything and I gave him a few things. No reply. That's when I remembered the time that the messages weren't going through. So I tried FB and it shows he was on about ten minutes ago but no response. I'm not going to press it because that could be annoying.
And I found the announcement after I did the assignment. At least I have two more tries. I've got 14 names left to do background checks on and a few reports I have to redo because IT pulled them wrong. At least I have the majority of the work done within the first week.
Right now I have to play with someone even though she was out for over an hour...
@Enthenia Maybe he got distracted? I know sometimes I tell myself I'll get to it later but then I forget 😬

Not as caught up as I thought. Going through the lists to put the reports run yesterday in the correct three places and see that I forgot NJ and maybe PA. Then I find reports that someone rerun two months after I did. Was a lead. I looked at one and the info is exactly the same as the one I ran. They scream at us for unnecessary cost and make a big deal about the reports being in three places so they aren't duplicated yet here we are again. Was it just because my name was on the initial report? I mean another of the so-called supervisors blocked me from emails.
Yet I have to be totally accurate and professional at all times and leap buildings in a single bound 🙄...
Overhead a lady who's taking some college classes in HR and she said that there's a lot of stuff done at our work that's contrary to what's being taught in her classes. I really don't get how she's managed to stay here for over 10 years. Actually, she said it wasn't as bad until the organization got sold...
@Enthenia It kind of makes sense that what they're doing there is contrary to what's being taught in classes. I really hope they aren't singling you out because you know what you're doing at least in my opinion
@mytwistedsoul I don't know. I'll just be relieved when I can finally close that chapter. I have seven left to do background checks on and I absolutely HAVE to start on the second try. The course is ending soon and I have to get it in before the deadline to give the instructor a chance to grade.
Not a lot of people there on Thursday so I should be able to focus a lot on the assignment.
As for my brother, an acknowledgement or even a "Sorry I missed this" would have been nice.

That's pretty good. There's someone else there, that agrees, understands what you're taliking about. Some validation, always helps a little bit.
I'm not making light of your brothers action, but in my day, way, way before cell phones and constant contact capabilities, we had answering machines for house phones. (have you ever seen one?)
When people didn't return a phone call, sometimes people would leave tons of messages on the answering machine, for someone to call back...... over and over and over again 😱
Moral of the story.... as aggravating as it is, try not to take it too personal, it's been going on for many many years. 🙄 (it would be nice though, even way back then. 🙂)

😁🤣😂.... u gave ur self away.... as did I. You have such a young persevering personality, which i think is wonderful, I would have never guessed it. 😀.
I often wonder what younger parents would do nowadays if the kids went out on day adventures without ever being able to stay in touch with them until they came home for dinner. That's the one rule my father had. Dinner was at 6:00 PM and we better be at the dinner table. He let us go bicycling and hiking and friends all day if that was in the plans we had for the day.
I guess that was normal back then and there wasn't so much fear ingrained into a parent's mind.

As for children, I think it's one extreme to the other where I live. There are very few parents out supervising their children in the play area next to the dog park in my complex. Most of them run wild, chuck rocks, go in and out of the dog park without property closing gates, swear like sailors, do graffiti (at least the older ones), etc.
Funny thing is, where I live is considered a decent place to live. I can only imagine what the "bad" sections of town are like.
Got almost three pages of my revised assignment done. Will do more but I have to step out of the office for a few minutes.
Unrelated but not looking good financially. Pet food order processed quicker than I thought. Had to shift some payments and the phone bill is due Saturday. Waiting for a payment to clear and then I will be okay but right now I've got maybe $10 and not much in the way of groceries. At least the dog and cat have something to eat.
@Enthenia Yeah it would be nice if people did at least acknowledge it in some way or any other. I agree with Uncle about not taking it personally but I know it's hard not to. Especially since he asked if you needed anything 😕 I hope today is an easy work day so you can get going on your assignment because it sounded like there's a little more going on with this one
@mytwistedsoul yes and now that I've put out minor fires (my personal account was negative because of the pet food order processing early. Have that fixed and shifted some payments around. , I will go to the restroom and get these names out of the way because I have to get at least halfway done with my comprehensive business security plan today so it can be finished and submitted by the end of the day tomorrow.
@Enthenia It's always so frustrating when they process things earlier than they should. I'm glad you got it straightened out though. Good luck with your assignment!
@mytwistedsoul I figured out why my brother wasn't responding. He never saw them. For some reason the application I was using couldn't get through. I vaguely remember switching a year or so back but then changing because I kept getting public transit alerts (almost constantly) and a lot of the time it was for routes I didn't take. Too many alerts annoys me so I try to minimize them as much as possible.
Got five pages done on the assignment. Still have a lot to do and I have to do some random things at work. Forgot my tea this morning. Got distracted by an animal as I was putting stuff in my bag last night then didn't get the bags.
Got the assignment submitted. Twenty pages and had to reformat it slightly because I had to use the template for the course. That was the only thing that went well yesterday. Had a frozen fruit bar which made me fall asleep an hour or two later. Or it could have been because I didn't eat enough. Still suffering from the pet food order processing early. Also waiting for a payment to clear so I can get some funds. Sometimes it processes in a day. Sometimes it takes three days. This time it's taking its time.
Asked my brother if he could help with groceries but now he can't. Reached out to my sister but I have had no response. Not sure what I will do if she can't do anything. Really shouldn't go without food for too long. I have enough for the weekend but that's it.

At least I was able to get funds so I can get groceries tomorrow.
I have to figure everything out on my own and when things go wrong, it's on me. I can't count on anyone else.
Got the groceries and was able to make a plate payment to an account. Deleted the conversation with my sister. Not going to bother her again. Have to deal with things on my own like usual.
