I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.

But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.

To praise each other for our efforts and wins.

While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.

And to continue trying and not give up.

Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!

Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do Your Best and Get Your rest.
Things are usually much harder then we think. Do your best. Be kind to yourself and Be kind to others.

@IsayUncle Not 50 ways to leave your lover? Oh wait. That credit goes to Paul Simon...

I think my goal this week is to enjoy the silence prior to the coming storm at work because like I told you, it's going to be chaotic what with holidays coming up (that I personally won't be able to take off).

I haven't logged in or followed a thread in a long time.  I am poppin in this afternoon to say that I'm doing ok....despite "life happens" negativity all around, I would say the good is out weighing the bad by just a little bit.....One thing I am thankful for this year, as corny as this may sound, are motivational quotes....I subscribe to them daily and some of them have helped me tremendously.  You have to change your mind set in this life when things go wrong......I'm looking at about 5 or 6 thousand dollars in sewer line repair in the next 3 weeks....that's what happens when your home was built in 1900 and no one knows when and if any sewer was ever replaced before.....I should be out of my mind stressed over this thing....but strangely I'm not....While I was away, I've been working on my "it's life" and "it is what it is" attitude.....I feel like I've made progress.....anyway, I'm hoping my home owners will foot the bill for the sewer repair, but if that falls through, sure, my savings will be a lot smaller, but I am thankful that I have the opportunity to work all the over time I want to build it back up, if that is something I care to do....

Anyway.....I hope everyone here is doing well and things are on the positive side of all things negative....take care of yourselves and have a great week.....

Reports just dropped about an hour or so ago and I'm already behind. No more taking it easy for me. I have to leave in a minute anyway...

And this morning I discover that people are putting duplicate documents in the main folder for the customer. There is a reason why I went out of my way to create sub folders by year. Everything from 2024 (which is now expired) should be in 2024. Anything from 2022 or 2023 should be in their respected folder. Creating duplicates takes up space and is unecesarry as there are files in their respective years.

I can't get the mindset of these people and I can't get enough free time to do my schooling so I can leave this place. And let's not even get on the subject of my non-existent "leadership" team...

So yeah, over an hour in when it only should be half an hour in but with the holidays coming up (for others, not me), I have to get all these names out of the way, fix random mistakes like duplicate files and forgotten commas or deleting files that exist 3x because everyone else is too lazy to open a document I have to get all this done in less than two weeks plus the two that got assigned to me which are due next week.

I think the only thing that keeps me going is the fact that I have two animals who are dependant on me since right now I don't have the classes to give me another outlet to focus on.

This job is going to kill me if I don't leave it eventually. Seriously, why is it so hard for people to open a file and look at it??? We don't need four folders for the same person!

I don't understand why file management is so difficult for people especially since that's all we deal with is files. I am doing it the correct way. If everyone did it the same way and everything was consistent, there would be no duplication, loss of storage space, no confusion, etc.

I can delete and rename the files and folders but if people would take a few seconds to review what was existing before making a new folder...

Here's a snip from an article on FileCenter:

2. Create hierarchical folders

Haphazard folder management & structures hold you back.

If you store files in random folders and subfolders that share no relationship, it will become extremely challenging to locate both your primary documents and related files.

All in all, poor folder structures make documents hard to find while also encouraging the duplication of records, which lowers data integrity.

A Precise study revealed that70% of businesses struggle with poor data quality today. Upon further investigation, it became clear this was down to duplicate data and poor filing of files within document control folder structures that aren’t even related.

Use descriptive file names

Do you randomly name your documents?

If so, you may need to click and open each file in a particular folder, every time you want to retrieve a specific piece of information from the pile.

Poor file naming practices are very inconvenient and can cost you a lot of wasted

Like folders entitled "Old Stuff" or shoving files into folders without renaming them to where they make sense so that someone 4 years down the road knows what it is.

This is exactly why I can't take time off or even do schooling now. Unfair but there is no one in management to bring this up to. If I neeeded to, I could do a presentation about it but I don't have the time for that. My chest felt extremely tight earlier because of the frustration and now I have to sort multiple folders for the same person out again. I want to scream but I can't.

Everyone in the workplace just think that that's not my job or I am not getting paid for it or would have an attitude that it's such simple task that doesn't need their attention. I have faced these things and a lot of office politics. Believe me, you just need to counterback in their own way. I did the same. When their attitude is slapped on their face, they actually feel it right then and there..............

However, I would say for thinking of such ideas first you need to be calm and composed. Don't let your mind wander on them or it will affect you negatively. They least care about your well-being and just keep their priorty straight. So, please take care of yourself as well.

your big letters reflect your dismal & intense frustration.

Is there not anything you can do in your own mind, without others faults and inadaquacies affecting you so badly.

There ia a world techniques to calm the mind and find focus with enviroments we cannot control.

I don't know what they all are but i know they are out there.

@IsayUncle I took some deep breaths and paused for a moment or so. Don't know if that counts. It's just maddening. The fact that I'm the only one that even cares even though management seems to always go off about regulations and compliance. I told a guy at the dog park and he said his friend's company got in trouble with a state's health board because management told them they could name files and folders however they want. Can't do that--especially not with the HIPPA regulations and other regulations.

My company's a hotel/casino but my department deals with finance an money laundering. We've got our own regulations to follow but the way my coworkers handle files does not meet the scope of the regulations.

I've never been in a company like this before but I do know that I really can't stand another year of this. Unfortunately, with my schooling looking sketchy at best, I don't know what my options are and currently, I don't have the time to assess anything. I've got to get this work done. That's all that matters right now. No one in management cares about reasons or explanations or anything. Just get the work done ideally within the same day. It's not said but that's the amount of pressure that is inferred from management's actions.

I'm sorry. It's up to you to quit or keep fighting. I know you're tired of trying. We can't blame our entire situation on everyone else because it wastes so much brain energy.... Soooo Muuuuch, it doesn't give our brains enough free space to make good choices for ourselves.

You shared your experiences here for many months. You're trying very hard to get your schooling done and that was a good choice for change.

Now you're thinking about quitting that because it's getting super hard.

If you like coming here to vent and vent and vent and vent, that's great! But sadly nothing will change until you change your situation or your mindeset, or your actions.

If you quit your schooling without figuring out a way to take advantage of all your efforts, that would be a shame but you gotta make your own choices what works for you in the atmosphere you are existing in. Sadly, the atmosphere is not gonna change but you still have to make the best choices for yourself.

You keep coming here and you VENT as much as you need to. If you have to come here and scream with capital letters, then you come here and scream with capital letters. It's OK! Sometimes we just have to do that until the solution reveals itself.

KEEP ON VENTING if it helps.
(Remember.... they will not change..... So the vent will always be the same until you change)

@IsayUncle well the yelling was unintentional. It was from the article I copied. I didn't actually notice the formatting. I thought you meant the thing I put in bold.

I know. In the end, it all comes back to me. Everything comes back to me. I know I'm the root cause of everything and I have no right to blame others.

I have to take time off from the classes. It's already in the works. My fault for not being able to do everything perfectly and at the same time. And there's no guarantee that this choice was correct. I mean, why should I try for something better? I'd probably screw it up like I do everything else.

But right now I have to take care of the laundry.

OK. Do you want outside suggestions? Or is venting just what you need right now.

VENTING feels good sometimes; and sometimes.... not so much, but it helps.

@IsayUncle I guess it doesn't really matter. It's not like anything I do is ever correct to begin with.

@Enthenia

Ok, that's not true, because it does matter AND you've done thousands of correct things since I've known you.

But it's OK if you just want to vent and put that feeling out there.

For the record.... you do correct things every day.

the world is not obligated to congratulate you on those things.... as a matter of fact, most people will dismiss or belittle your achievements. If you want to believe them.... your choice.

It really helps to VENT when you feel like the whole world is aginst you.... Too much though, you stagnate. It's time to grow past that.... How? hmmmm? worth talking about, maybe.

But there are different approaches to those situations that can catapault you progressive results.

@IsayUncle it's just frustrating when on one hand there are standards and consistency yet the same people who beat that drum can't even bother with opening a file to see if it's the same person. Or like the people who save PDFs of IDs with just the name. Not helpful. No expiration date, no explanation of what ID it is (passport is not the same as a driver's license, a permanent resident card is different than either of them. And, if it's a passport, they don't even put what country issued it. One can search for country abbreviations. It's what I do and it doesn't take that long).

And there's the unrealistic standards while again, the same people are able to take weeks off or not even come into the office.

I'm actually used to things going against the grain. For me, things rarely ever go in my favor. Like the university. A stupid thought that I could forge my way and make things better but all I've done is get more debt.

And today, I've got a dog who's not feeling well. Threw up earlier. She's been playing a bit with one of her toys. I was going to take her out but I think we'll play inside instead. That way if she feels poorly again, we're close to home. Gave her a spoonful of plain yogurt earlier. She ate it and she does have some energy.

@Enthenia

OK, so your logic is that you're stupid because you are trying to better yourself.

There's a difference between being stupid and giving up.... and using the excuse of "being stupid" so you can justify giving up, and get sympathy at the same time is a common technique for being normal.

What do you want more, to be heard, to be understood, to be soothed.... or to rise above the entitled morons you are currently working with?

If you are going to compare all the things your co-workers do, are detremental to your peace of mind or success, Then also Compare yourself to all the people that have similar hardships of you, but succeed. How do they do it?

They probably have a reason to fight harder than you, and they know they are not stupid, for trying to better themslves and they know they are not stupid for failing again and again until they succeed. They know they are not stupid because they have to adjust thier plans every year to achieve something better.

Of course there probably are many that give up and call themselves stupid too.

I know what crowd you belong with. You are a fighter.... I've seen you come out on top over and over again. If you have to adjust your plans... Admit that, accept that and do that, But don't call yourself stupid for trying to better yourself. unless you want to... you choose what crowd you want to hang with. Your choice. I know which one you belong with. the fighters, you got the fighting, spitting spirit in your DNA... Let it ROAR once again.

So What! You got knocked down this month... Get back up, replan, re-attack, Start setting your battle plans for next week, month, or the new year coming up. 52 weeks to try again.

@IsayUncle I don't know about being a fighter. If I were, I don't think I would put up with so much. But I also know I have nothing else and two animals that depend on me (dog is better by the way. Think she expelled whatever she had gotten ahold of yesterday because she was fine after that). I also know that I realistically have no one to lean on. Certainly, I can come here and bare my soul (should I choose to) but it's not like I can go to anyone's abode and speak or even ask for assistance when things get tight (as they have a tendency to do at times) because either I don't qualify or I get no response. And, I'm not that good with actual conversatons. Perhaps because of a general lack of response. It has been inferred more than once that I'm an annoyance so I back off. I'm also not looking for hugs or the like. Not really that sort of person anyway.

I don't know. I have until February on the schooling front. I should review the Com TIA+ practice tests that I have on my mobile. Haven't looked at those in months but now I have to gather the information for the report that's due today and then get more addresses written down and start a report that's due in two days.

@Enthenia

Yea, believe it or not.... I have no one to speak to either. No one i trust enough to bare my soul... and/or that i have enogh faith in that i would listen to them.

It does get deeply frustarting sometimes.... but it's a constant reminder to be a fighter, just like you. you really are a fighter. Being one, does not mean there are no problems or doubts.

February gives you some time to bend with the river if need be.
