Disciplinary Accountability for Success says it all. I have all that I need to be successful, Except for enough discipline. Without the discipline, much of my time and many of my days are wasted.

I want to be successful in Three Large aspects of my life, for 2026 & onward.
(1) Financial security. (I'm self employed).
(2) Family involvement. (I've been estranged for too many years)
(3) Reduce my weight by 65 lbs. (I'm currenty 6'2" @ 290lbs - age 60+).

This thread is an effort to force discipline onto my actions by admitting my accountability. It is a personal journey of hard improvement for the year of 2026.

Feel free to join in with your own story. I wholly believe in supporting each other for strength, understanding and camaraderie

I'm Recognizing some serious pitfalls With my disciplinary abilities. These have to be addressed and improved on if I'm going to succeed in 2026.

1) Having to have constant noise on. (Solution: Improve focus by working in silence)

2) The need to nap after a couple of chores. (Solution: Meditate and breathing exercises instead, for 5-10 minutes)

3) Lackidasical approach to chore at hand with tendacies to be easily distracted. (Solution: Do chores with Intention, Purpose and Ferver. Complete them as quickly as humanly possible).

4) Discouragement through repetition, boredom. (Solution: Accept that reality with absolute resignation and then, apply solution #3 to the deterrance)

5) Harmful reward habits. Solution). Reduce Stress eating and Alcohol intake

Day 3 - Saturday. (Yesterday was satifactory)

I had an epiphany. Ever since becoming a young adult and aging into an old man, mostly what I felt were insecurities and inadequacies. (dysfunctional and traumatic upbringing). But for some reason, I never gave up, I kept trying and I used every trick in the book; self help, religion, philosophy, determination and etc.

With all these efforts, I still faced most days with dismay, discouragement and dread. As I enetered into 2026, I once again, asked myself, what's the point?.... Really, right? I am glad that I never gave up trying because I think I discovered part of the solution, and  a big part it is, for me anyway.

My epiphany is about a mind set. I think I have struggled so much, my entire life it was just acceptable to settle for fighting and struggling getting it done, do it, do it, do it. And of course all the reasons are pretty obvious. Survival and hopefully some success.

I changed my mindset from, "Dismay, Discouragement and Dread", to..... "Intent, Purpose and  Ferver".

Instead of starting my day with, "Dismay, Discouragement and Dread", (My conditioned, normal state of mind)... I'm changing my thinking to the other. It worked great yesterday and It's working great this morning.

I like the word "ferver" better than speed or efficiency because it feels urgent and with a passion, instead of just a reason.

Day 4 - Sunday. (Yesterday was satifactory)

I am astounded about how changing my mindset from all the D's (Dismay, Dread, Discouragement), Has boosted my endurance level.

I've started reminding myself constantly, about the intention, the purpose of what I'm doing at hand in addition, to doing it with, fervor.

Before, from the time that I woke up, to the time that I went to bed, I dreaded all my tasks. I stayed discouraged most of the time because I didn't finish them. i just kind of existed in a state of dismay. The only thing that kept me going was my own refusal to give up. But I was finally, starting to wear down to tell you the truth.

I'm very thankful for this new mantra that I'm playing in my head throughout the day. Each task is done with intention, purpose and fervor. This mindset not allowing room for all the other junk in my life to get into my head and discourage me and wear me down mentally.
