2026 Week #21 - Weekly Goal Sharing! (Monday 05/18/25 - Sunday 05/24/26)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

Do Your Best and Get Your rest.
Things are can be harder than what we first think. That's OK, You can do it. It's normal. Do your best. Be kind to yourself and Be kind to others.

Talked to the property manager yesterday. Apparently, it was a hot water main that broke. The repair bill from the plumber is a lot. Then there's the other expenses they'll have like the carpets and the labor to fix the holes in the walls.
As it stands, the apartment is uninhabitable and they want to relocate me but they said I also have too much stuff which was why the carpet people couldn't get in there to do their job. I've been there 10+ years. Yes, I need to go through things. I don't even know what the damage to my things in the bedroom was because it's still really damp in there. The also said the dog was an issue even though she was in her crate.
While it's nice that they want to move me, the fact whether or not I have too much stuff isn't the issue here. What I had on shelves didn't cause an interior pipe to break. I have needed to clear out unneeded things for a while now (haven't because I'm constantly working) so I'm not exactly annoyed with that but the notion that it was indirectly responsible for a plumbing issue is absurd.
I am not happy with the fact that I will have to throw a lot of things away. Like clothes. The shirt I decided to wear yesterday was technically too big but I didn't want to go and get another from the closet because things are damp in there because of the water-logged carpet. I can't exactly donate things that have been sitting in a damp closet since Saturday afternoon. There's also furniture items I'll have to get rid of like the bed. It's over ten years old and bits of it have been coming loose. I don't think it could handle the trip. The mattress will have to be replaced too. I'll have to check the shelves. The metal ones will be fine but the cheapish ones will have to go.
Then there's the issue of transporting everything. I just checked with a third party company that is supposedly cheaper than a commercial service. $400 to move things from one apartment to another. I suppose it's a reasonable price but trying to find that $400 is going to be a challenge. I haven't committed myself to anything yet. I just wanted a ballpark idea. I still have no idea what can be salvaged and what can't but it's just another thing that I will have to worry about. And even if I can leave early today (think I'll be able to. I'm caught up), three days really isn't a lot of time but I don't really have a choice.
Left work early yesterday to start the clear out. Didn't get a lot done. Fell asleep for three hours. Never had lunch. Couple of people in the office gave me money (discreetly) and I can have a new mattress (new to me) since mine won't make the trip. It's been sitting in an unused guest room and our office receptionist was looking for a new home for it.
Set up a move service request with the electric. Still have to do gas and Internet.
Insurance claim was denied because I couldn't prove that I lost more than $500 in damages. Spoke with a tenant lawyer. They're supposed to get back to me. Not pleased with having to pay for the move and I may have to pay more for the new place even though my lease for the current place has ten months left on it.
Super tired right now but that could be from a lot of things. Still have areas to go through and I'm running out of time...
@Enthenia
Oh MAN OH MAN.... NONE OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT! THEY SHOULD BE RESPOSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING!
$500 IN EXPENSES ALONE..... (PLUS PERSONAL ANQUISH)
NO WAY, YOU SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO DISCARD ANYTHING YOU OWN.... IT'S YOURS.
GET ON FB OR SOMETHING AND GET A LAWYER TO FIGHT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
finding you another apartment is NOTHING $$$$$...... THEY OWE YOU!
@IsayUncle well it is nicer than where I was. More built-in shelves, microwave, new faucets, a ceiling fan...
And I looked at the lease. They aren't charging more and it extends to June of next year. I'm practically right next to the laundry room. I need to do laundry since most of my blankets and things got damp
The only bad thing about today was that I had to do some of the moving by myself. I didn't find out until about ten minutes ago that the movers I had contacted got stuck with a client who has pre-registered for a storage unit so they got delayed.
However, I'm done going back and forth for the day even though I keep realizing that I've left things at my old apartment. Like eggs. The refrigerator is off so those will be bad (only had 2 left in the carton) and my shoes. Changed into my sandals which will have to do. I got a couple of lamps moved over, clothes, food, bath things, and the dog's bed but there's still a lot.
And, I have no Internet right now because the person who had the apartment before didn't properly turn the service off and since it was a new account, they can't just end the service.
Got electric which is more important for the A/C because the dog was out in the warmer parts of the day for longer than she should have been but I couldn't have left her in the new place alone. She would have panicked

I meant hadn't pre-registered.
@Enthenia
WOW, You are handling this with such a positive point of view. 😊. Proud of you, even if it is not fair or easy.... 💚. Wishing you the best with a quick transition back to some form of normality.
@IsayUncle well it's not like I have any other choice but to go along and do it myself like so much of what goes on in my left. Moved two wagons of stuff. Found an extra shower curtain in the hall closet so I don't need to buy one. Brought the computer and monitor over but forgot the plug for the monitor. Got a little end table so what few lights I have aren't on the floor. Actually wanted something to put a plate on. Brought some more clothes over. Will have to do another round soon.
Got hardly any sleep last night. Dog kept barking and she echoed. Still need to get more tape and have a lot left to sort through. Just difficult to stay in the old apartment for too long with no electric and the damp smell. But it's all on me. I have no one to ask for assistance.
My life. I can't even type correctly...
@Enthenia,
Yes, Often, it is our own persaverance that weathers the storms best. Try not to feel bad, using up good mind space.... Feel good that you will do, whatever has to be done. (But it would be nice to have a hand😔)
@IsayUncle whatever I had saved got wiped out because I ended up restarting. I kept getting an error when I hit post.
The movers never showed yesterday. Got delayed. They had availability this afternoon but it's afternoon and no word yet. A second company has availability tomorrow so I'm waiting on a response from them.
Sent my mom some messages and the lady at work who offered me a mattress but no word from either.
Got word back from the lady at work. Things came up and can't deliver it this week. Now if 3 had an idea about the movers
Called the office back. The carpet people had wanted to come in and strip the carpet at the old place. They'll go in Tuesday. Hopefully I can get enough things moved before then
Running out of groceries and have no idea when I can get more. Have money but that has to be for the movers unless I end up doing everything on my own...
@Enthenia
I have a word document, i always save before i post. if the platform freaks out..... then i'll copy my save to my wd before reposting again on the platform....
i hate pouring my heart out, only to lose it to a tecnical error or a couple of times i was so brain dead, i actually "X"d out of the dialouge box instead of hitting the post.... Like Duhhhhh!

@Enthenia
So sorry for the added burdens. ☹️
@IsayUncle it showed that you had marked it twice. Did i post twice and not realize it? Or maybe one of the marks was for a correction. I think I realized something was off after I posted it. I don't remember a lot what with all that's been going on recently.
The other moving company showed up yesterday. Had to wait on a guy who takes the bus. I understood because he lived in the central part of town and with the buses being on Sunday schedules, it can take time. Today, the buses are on Sunday schedules due to the holiday. No one from my department is here today. I could have had the day off too but I had said I'd work (that was before the leak) and I had been home long enough. The dog panicked when I left this morning, though. I had been concerned about that but I couldn't stay at home indefinitely.
It cost close to $500 for the movers and they didn't get everything out. They got the big stuff but I had a lot of small stuff and I'd run out of boxes and tape. And, as we discovered, some of the things had to get trashed due to water damage. An entire row of books on the bottom shelf of a cheap bookcase had to get tossed because they were stuck together and when I pulled a couple loose, discovered mold on the bottom. I don't think the titles are in print anymore so that's a loss. I still have to get that shelf out and a couple more shelves that are in the bedroom out plus the bed and some things in the living room. And the dog's ball pit. I need to see if the rugs I put down after the blowers had been on the carpet for a few days can be salvaged.
Today at work, I'm going to do the mandatory training that I need to do. And, if the pet store near work is open today, I'll get the dog a chew. She has had a rough week and she has been really good during it all. She stayed out of the movers' way yesterday and only got wound up when they were moving the stuff into the new place. Things are still in boxes at the new place but I can take my time sorting through things. I will also need new places to put things. And rugs. And a dining table (thinking about one of those cafe sets since it's just me and her right now). They were able to bring the couch over. That was where the dog wanted to sleep last night. Will have to get new pillows for that since the ones that were there kept getting knocked on the floor and they became water damaged.
It's going to take awhile to get back to whatever passed as normal for me.
