Luckily, there is an awesome method to achieve goals and that is through the S.M.A.R.T. method! S.M.A.R.T. stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. These are all little things to keep in mind to writing out and starting a goal. Let's learn a bit more about them!.

S- Specific: A specific goal is much easier to achieve than a general goal. To ensure your goal is specific, you must be able answer the six "W" Questions: Who? What? Which? Why? When?

Examples:

General Goal: Study more.

Specific Goal: Talk to my teachers and counselors to establish a study schedule for each day of the week.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My General Goal # 1 is to finish all house chores.
My Specific Goals # 1: Do dishes - Fold laundry - Daily cooking - Sweep and vacuum floors- Sort office and paperwork.

My General Goal # 2: Do all finacial paperwork.
My Specific Goals # 2: Log all reciepts - Pay and log all bills - Review and log Credit card and Banking statements.
(This so important because I'm slowly going in the hole every month and I have a plan for fixing that but I must know what my monthly deficency is. It is not a lot, just barely so this is doable for me) This could be considered a Long Term Goal to fix, using these all these Short Term Goals.

Does anyone know what the 6th W is? The instuctions above mention the 6W method but then only mentions 5-W's Who, What, Which, Why, When. (I'm guessing it might be "Where") AND the big question I have is HOW do these W's help with goals?

My idea? WHICH Goal is important? WHY is it important? WHEN will it be done? (I don't know about the other 2 or 3 W's)

@IsayUncle

Interesting thread 🙌 I've been looking at trying to organise and hit my goals a bit better too :)

6 w's? Hmmm... From what I remember its - who, what, when, where, why, and how? (Has a w at the end 😅🤔)

I don't think all of them need to be fully answered but they help give a good place to start 🤔

My long term goal is to attend a networking event with a portfolio later this year --

Who? - me myself and I?

What? - have a finished portfolio, artist postcards, business cards and attend the event.

When? - end of November

Where? - the art fair in question

Why? - I'm hoping to generate some work or contacts and possible find an agent, this will help me achieve more long term goals attached to the things I hold important and my career at the same time :)

How? - by creating portion projects relevant to the work I want, keep the checklist of topics in mind when choosing, plan ahead for the day and make an itinerary and possibly some kind of follow up plan like sending out emails to say "hi I met you at X"

I've been enjoying all the goal oriented stuff out here atm! Best of luck organising all your receipts! It's a frustrating task but definitely worth the effort! 💚🐦
