Personal starters: What got you out of bed today?

Hey all,

So one of the bits of wisdom I learned from my grandfather was this. That often times, the hardest part of anything in life is just getting started. And as a corollary to that, we need to have a "starter" for ourselves in the mornings to get us going and out of bed.

With those ideals in mind, what was your own personal starter (or starters) that got you going and out of bed today?

For myself today, it was the anticipation that I had for my weekly video-chat with one of my lifelong friends. I feel like having things to look forward to in life is so paramount towards my well-being. :)

@mytwistedsoul

Sorry I don't think I could put any more replies.

They were captive bred. However, they're not really the type of animals that get used to people. Just threat or not a threat. They can tolerate handling depending on the temperament, but each one is different, even within the same species. Therefore, it's a controversial subject. I haven't handled them yet because they're so small, one 3/4 inch and one 2 inches. They would run all around and I would definitely lose them. They calm down as adults.

You don't keep tarantulas in the same enclosure generally, but there are very few that can be kept communally, always within the same species. One of which being the blue one. You need a large tank and lots of food.

They eat mealworms right now that you can buy from a petsmart or Petco, any place like that. All the cost is upfront, as food is cheap. I actually have to cut mealworms up for the smaller one, but soon it will graduate to full ones 😁

If you like them, you should check out Dave's Little Beasties, The Tarantula Collective, and Exotic's Lair on YouTube.

(Sorry serene for the double post but I couldn't post more replies to that same post earlier)

My reason used to be my dog, but as he just recently passed I struggle to get out.... If there is anything I have to do I eventually will get out of bed but as I also lost my job and boyfriend there are days I just stay in bed till lunch have a quick snack and fall back into bed... I also get out of bed to search for jobs... I guess if there is ever a worst time in life , then mine is now... I just feel so tired, exhausted all the time

I am sorry you're going through all that; that is an incredible amount of trials and grief for one person to handle, all relatively at the same time.

I think it's very commendable that you've been able still get up to search for jobs. That can be difficult and draining in the best of circumstances, so I think you should be proud of yourself for being able to function the best you can right now. :) <3

My sisters, they are what get me out of bed every day. I am the oldest, and have loved watching them grow up. I never want to miss a second of their childhood

@KaidaSus

I can definitely, at least vicariously, appreciate your perspective. Because, as the youngest, I have literally always wondered what it was like to be the oldest sibling.

Anyways, I think your post gave me somewhat of a window into that, so my sincere thanks to you for sharing your thoughts. :)

Wonderful post @sereneSunset26!

I think for me an important part of getting started on something is learning how to prepare and anticipate the things that are going to happen once they start! In the example you gave, what gets me out of bed is having a good night's sleep before and healthy routine winding down. Because of this it's really easy to wake up refreshed to tackle the day ahead!

Thank you!!

I agree with you that anticipation is a huge part of the preparation process. And to your other point, getting enough rest and sleep is so paramount to our quality of life and just being able to function.

While I personally can't identify with coffee as a starter for myself, I can imagine the call of caffeine to be a starter in an of itself. After all, we have to have energy to function. :)

@sereneSunset26 The thought that my studies would be a distraction rather than lying in bed and letting the depression wash over me.

If I am being honest... the only thing that got me out of bed today was the fact that I have people depending on me... I felt the presence of God (no offense to anyone or their beliefs, I am a completely open-minded and free person who believes that everyone should think and be who they want to be) really helped me drag myself out of bed today.

That's inspiring. :)

For me, it's kind of a routine. Wake up, go to work, coffee. But most of the time, I tell myself I look forward to a beautiful day, to making making new memories, to enhancing myself. Seeing my family and friends. It's a good enough reason to wake up to the morning sun with a smile.

Thank you!!

And all that definitely makes sense, and is a great reason to have gratitude! I agree with you that having a routine is so important, because for better or worse, we are all creatures of habit for sure. :)
