Word of the day

@chyni what motivates me is my reality now😁 rescued them brought to the real world (this world) a few short years ago. After learning everything about life in theese past few years learning about the magic and beauty that surrounds us. I've been given a real chance at life now, I don't want to waste it, so yeah that's what motivates me
@Tinywhisper11
i think we all get caught up in living most times that we often forget to stop and smell the roses. living is so precious, life is so beautiful… once you see the magic you’ll forever be grateful.
@chyni yep! Gotta slow down and smell the roses ❤❤
@Tinywhisper11 this is an extremely cute picture!
@chyni
I usually tell myself that I am a divine being with consciousness and a spirit put on earth for a purpose, to bring life into a dying world, to call forth the stars into the darkness, and I'm never going to tap into that purpose if I waste time doing nothing with my life or on self-pity.
A bit dramatic? Perhaps. But it gets the job done :P
@Zevia1MM good for you ❤❤ good luck with everything ❤❤
@Zevia1MM
that’s so beautiful, and i don’t think it’s dramatic, your mind is very unique and i love it 🫶🏽❤️
@Zevia1MM I think this is beautiful, powerful, and not at all dramatic. Everyone's motivation can be unique to how they feel. 💛
@chyni I am motivated by the challenges I have overcome in my personal life. My life has not been easy, but I have lived this long and got through things that I thought I wouldn't. That is what keeps e going and reaching for my goals.
@chyni
That's a great question
One thing I have learned from past years of my life is to see the bigger picture of life.
Life is all about your learnings, experiences, and making memories.
I no longer cry over petty things and always try to learn and explore life.
@chyni
Things that keep me motivated:
- The anticipation of achieving the next goal + breaking down long tasks into small ones.
I try to break down long tasks into smaller ones, so as to have many small intermediate goals, and feel the next one is near. Frequent small achievements, with short wait times work best for me than waiting until the completion of the project to feel I have achieved the "Big Goal"
- Anticipating the relief of having completed the task.
This is the same but the feeling is inespecific, just "mission accomplished", no more worries about that, no matter what was achieved.
- Anticipating Planed Rewards
I promise myself that after a certain amount of time working focused and conscientiously on a task, I will do something enjoyable, like doing nothing and just sipping tea, listening to music, or playing a videogame. With time for enjoyment already scheduled, I can focus with more enthusiasm on the task at hand. I can plan bigger things like taking a whole day off, visiting friends, or even a mini-vacation after a period of hard work.
Motivation for me is seeing my kids happy, I make the best of each day and I motivate myself to be better then yesterday
@chyni
what keeps you motivated?
what keeps me motivated is my goal and romanticizing whatever it is i need to do!
I am looking for inspiration in this thread to help me find motivation.
I wish I knew what motivated me. I thought my motivation was to do well in school to become a 4th generation doctor and help people. After graduating, I realized my actual motivation was to avoid consequences. The consequence of bad grades would lead to getting kicked out of school, not getting into school, and the family not being happy with me for my actions or lack of accomplishments.
This type of motivation can get certain jobs done but creates a chronic procrastinating people pleaser. I believe this type of motivation has run its course. I can't tell if it is burnout or if I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying to become my own person, which just puts a pause on my progress. Do I continue with what I'm doing with a better motivator, or do I need to change directions? Obviously, there's no simple answer and I am the only one who can figure that out.
Motivation to get things done is good. Motivation to become a better version of myself is better.
So I'm looking for a goal, but should I do small or big-picture goals?

A tool that might help is doing the 7 Cups Academy "Time Management" Course, based on Stephen Covey's "First Things First" book.
"Time Management" Course:
https://www.7cups.com/forum/academy/AcademyPrograms_2311/7CupsAcademyTimeManagementCourse_280718/
Covey's approach is to reflect on what things are meaningful in your life, what life you want to build, and from that "image" of what you want to be in the future, come back to the present and prioritize the tasks that need to be done to achieve that.
So it helps to develop a "big picture" and then connect that big picture with meaningful, motivating tasks to do now.
On the other hand, motivation along the way can be kept by breaking large tasks into smaller tasks and rewarding yourself after each completion. Plan and schedule the reward before you start. Rewards should be the most enjoyable things you can do given time, location and cost constraints. Tasks can be as small as "Study focused and conscientiously for half an hour"
