why is checking in with yourself so important?
hello teamates! it has come to my attention that so many of us don’t have enough time nor do we make enough time to check in with ourselves. i’m here to encourage everyone to practice checking in with ourselves on a regular basis.
checking in with yourself is a simple habit that can have a significant impact on helping you maintain mental and emotional well-being.
taking a moment to pause and reflect on your internal state, acknowledging your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, can teach you how to foster a greater sense of self-compassion and gain better control over your emotions.
checking in with yourself is an active engagement with your inner world that can positively impact your life and can significantly enhance your overall wellbeing.
here are 10 mental health check-in questions to get you started:
- “how am i feeling right now?”
- “what does my body needs at this moment?”
- “what self care action can i take today?” *it could be as simple as reading a book, taking a walk or practicing a hobby.
- “is there anything i need to forgive myself for?
- “what am i grateful for today?”
- “what are my needs that aren’t being met?”
- “what accomplishments can i celebrate today?”
- “how can i be kinder to myself in this moment?”
- “what’s one thing i can let go of that’s not serving me?”
- “what brings me joy, and how can i incorporate more of it into my life?”
and if you’re still unsure of how you can do these check-ins with yourself, here’s how:
- practice mindfulness exercises
- keep a journal
- set time for daily reflection
- share with a trusted person
- listen to your intuition
- pay attention to your emotions
