How to Fight the Need

I haven't been diagnosed by a doctor but a few suspect that I've developed OCD tendencies due to other illnesses. It only got extremely bad this last year due to a great amount of stress from school. I went bald on the right side and am slowly losing my eyebrows. I don't go out much because of it and other reasons. I feel so ashamed that I'm doing this to myself, but when the feeling comes I can't fight it no matter what I say to myself. I've considered shaving my head, but would that really solve the problem or just divert it elsewhere? Could wearing a wig help ease the need or would it just make my head break out and make me want to pick more? For clarification, I find myself trying to remove hairs from pimples on my head, but I end up going overboard and feeling them when there are none.

@CinnaRin Hi there - I'm sorry no one responded when you posted this, but I wanted to check in and see how things are now. It's been almost a year since you posted - do you feel like you have a better handle on those compulsions now, or is it still a struggle? What helps you manage them?
