New and scared

I've finally admitted to myself that I have a problem. I have suffered with depression my whole life and have just come out of a severe depressive episode. I have always had 'issues' regarding my self image. Bullimea. Now overweight. over skin dark hair. However the dermatillomania is relatively new...always had an obsession with ingrown hairs and spots but it's got so bad I've scared my leg and have had to pretend I've sprained my wrist wearing a tubigrip my arm is so bad. I think I may have fractured my finger from attacking myself so viciously. It's definitely wonky anyway. So I took the step to join this group.

@faithfulRaspberries6709 Hey, we're glad you joined. It can be really hard to admit to yourself that you have a problem, but you're on the right track. I don't share the skinpicking complusion with you, but I still understand how interruptive compulsions can be. Especially if you're damaging your other fingers like that. It's good to be aware of yourself, so feel free to come back and give up an update on how your fingers are healing over the next week or so. Sometimes, checking in with another person can help you be aware of what you're doing and why you're doing it.

Do you have any support in your everyday life?

@Blinkk

Im about to start CBT so am hoping that will make a difference. By actually doing something like finding a therapist and joining this group has really helped. like I'm taking control or at least tackling it a bit. Would be great to connect with other sufferers
