@seanmendonca2472 Awww, this is big. Congratulations on y'all going to be first time parents. Y'all are in for the journey and I wish you all so much happiness! Whatever the circumstances for why her younger siblings are going to be under the care of your girlfriend and you, I hope that they feel every bit of loved, cared for, accepted, and safe! ❤️ Just do your best to love on these kids, allow them time to heal and adjust, etc. Enjoy parenthood. 😀

Becoming new parents can be challenging, but it’s not something you and your girlfriend can't conquer. As long as you both put love, consideration, and understanding into your new family, you'll be able to build a strong foundation. Additionally, referring to various parenting books can also be very helpful. I find that parenting books are really helpful. I don't know the age of her brothers, but the books come in a variety of ages with a lot of information regarding parenting. Here are some name of parenting books, you can check out.  Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be by Dr. Becky Kennedy. and  Hunt, Gather, Parent by Michaeleen Doucleff.

I would say listen. I think no matter what age, everyone just wants someone there. If they are bit older, just being there and listening to them will make your relationship stronger and they will be able to trust you. If you tell them to tell you truth, and they do, just drop the conversation and thank them for telling you the truth no matter how angry it might make you. Allowing them to open up to you will gradually earn their trust. If they something at school, and you ask them what happened and they tell the truth, perfect, let it go. Thank them and tell them you might not be in trouble in this house but I cannot control your consequences you might get at school. Telling someone the truth is hard to do, especially if they did do it. But this will build that safety net for your relationship in the future. If they’re upset, I always like to ask do you need a hug or do you need a break? I don’t care what anyone’s says, everyone needs a hug. If they need a break, say okay that’s fine, and let them take their break no questions asked. This will give them their space they need at that every moment, but they have a better chance of calming down and coming back and talking to you about it. I think in general, letting them know that it’s okay to talk about feelings is such a big thing. Boys don’t want to look soft with all these emotions and feelings, but everyone has them and I believe everyone should be able to tell anyone how they feel. Don’t compare the two, even with the smallest things. Ex) oh look Tim is eating his dinner, why aren’t you? That’s how animosity starts. Just be involved in general. Kids really do need a good role model to look up to! This is all about learning, and we learn as we go, you guys are going to do great!
