@bestVase7265
This morning's test ride with the transit with my parents.. I don't think I'll make the run myself.. We've taken all the possible routes I'd be using.. So, I have an idea where to walk to change trains or to bus. It's just a matter of following the times depending on my shift. But otherwise, it's pretty straight-forward.. So, tomorrow, I'll pass on trying it on my own.. instead, I'll still wake up around the same time, so I get used to waking up early. But on Saturday, I will still do that test drive.. I'm just thinking if I should take my dad along.. I'm thinking of taking one route one-way, and another route the way back. Of the 4 Saturdays during my orientation, I can drive for 2 of those days.. as one is the 7:30am shift, and another at 10am.
Still, the only problem is the evening shift..(weekday and weekend) I could only take the last train to the station at the foot of the hill of my home.. there's no bus/shuttle that goes up the hill.. and arriving around 1:07-1:15am, the only other way to get home is either have family come pick me up, or I call a taxi, but that would mean waiting on the streets for a taxi to come, who knows how long it'd take.. Might be forced to take that road test to get that full driver's license, so I could drive past midnight (that way, even if I did a park & ride to get to work, I can drive home from it when I get back).. And can't wait until early next year, when they say that N drivers can ease into the full driver's license as long as our driving records are clean.. Because taxi or Uber will be an extra expense..
That all sounds good. You are figuring out details one at a time and you are doing a great job of it. Once you start doing the transportation it is going to feel easier.
I need to let you know just a little bit from my end. During a therapy appointment yesterday, my therapist suggested that I now need to limit 7 Cups time because of all the other stressors and uncertainties in my life and the ways in which I am caring for people. I have been doing this for a decade now every night so I am just going to transition to every other night rather than every night.
So feel free to post every night that you want to. I will read everything. But I will only post every other night.
Okay, sounds good. I might not be posting every night during my orientation this month. Or it might be short, using the mobile app. You gotta do what's good for you.
A decade is pure dedication, and does show your caring side. I'm really thankful that you had noticed my struggles and agreed to starting this thread even before the Pen Pals was created. I had mentioned Cups to my counsellor and said its my only emotional support, with certain members who had been my continuous support through my toughest times when depression hits. I've even introduced it to my GP once, so she can share with her patients.
There is another member that I've lost trace of her since end of last year.. I've kept it updated like once every month, or when some big changes in my life occurs.. hoping she would see it one day.. I knew she was going through a few things with her parents, her son, and partner.. so, I'm just taking it as that she still hasn't settled down with anything yet.. But her and I also exchange long posts.. I missed those.. Hope she comes back this year..
@bestVase7265
It is hard when one of those friendships disappear. I have had that happen a number of times on here. But I figure those that need to come back will. You were gone from my feed for multiple months too but then found your way back. And we are both better for it.
I will only be going to every other day. I am not planning on disappearing any time soon. I don't think I am ready for that.
I hope your continued prep for the new job training is going well.
I went for the test drive with my dad this morning, to the hospital, I drove in the way of how I studied the map. Then, on the way home, he showed me a much simpler route, where I don't have to stress so much about merging lanes or making a lot of left/right turns. So, I think I'll be taking that route to and from the hospital for next Saturday's shift.
We also asked the auto insurance guy about my insurance, as I'm currently paying a discounted price because it is considered as pleasure plan.. so, apparently, I'm allowed to have 6 days in a month, where I could drive a longer distance, without changing my insurance. So, when I start my part-time line, I could drive for all my Saturday shifts if I wanted to.. I haven't decided about driving on Saturday yet though, I want to see how the parking is like on a Saturday, if I were to arrive at the hospital by 10:30am. So, when I'm working the morning shift next week, I'll take a peek at the parking lot during my breaks, around 10:30am and see how full the parking lot would be.. That way, I could also drive on the 3rd Saturday of my Orientation day too, as I'll be working a 10-6pm. From now until Wednesday, I need to get used to waking up around 5am. So, I cannot stay up past midnight. Since I can only sleep for 6 hours, I can't go to bed too early, otherwise, I'd be awake before 4am.
Last night, my brother was saying, since he'll be staying at his friend's place, it means he'll need to work in the office everyday, as his friend's place does not have internet. He was saying, just thinking about working in the office everyday, is very tiring.. they he goes on wondering, if I'll be just as tired.. as it's been a long time, since I've worked this type of job, and having the Orientation working full-time hours (Tues-Sat), that I would be tired too.. especially I'm spending hours of transportation before and after work. Working a 7:30am shift is like being awake and alert for at least 13 hours. But I think since I have passion for this work, I may end up be running on adrenaline.. so, I might be okay. But might be more exhausted on my days off. We'll see..
So for Mother's Day weekend, since my Aunt will be with us, we've made reservations at a sushi restaurant. I was thinking about a buffet-style Korean food, but it's already full booked on that day.
@bestVase7265
Oh no, I've seemed to have caught a cold from last week's day out in trial for taking transit.. That wait for the morning train was breezy.. Yesterday, when I woke up, I felt I had some phlegm stuck in the back of my throat, later on in the evening, my nose started to feel congested and had some runny nose.. By this morning, I'm totally congested and blowing my nose.. so, I'm now afraid of how I'd feel by the time I work on Wednesday.. Hope I can fight this cold and recover in time for my first day of work.. Also, I might need to hide from my Aunt and Uncle, as they will continue on their cruise trip in 10 days, I can't pass the cold to them..
This morning, I took an Immunity drink, stood out in the sun for like 10 minutes.. drinking some ginger tea now, probably go get an apple after my tea.. and go back to bed after my clothes are done in the dryer.. They might come back around 3pm today.. my parents says, it depends if they'll be out walking or not.. hopefully rest and fluids these 2 days will help my recover by Wednesday.. Can't miss my first day of work.. Probably would need to wear a mask on the train though.
Rest, rest, rest.. fight the cold.
You have done all the planning that you can for the new job.
Colds happen and you are going to deal just fine with that as well. I know it isn't exactly the start that you wanted, but hopefully it will be a minor cold. You are strong and you are going to be able to handle anything that gets thrown at you, including a sore throat or a cough.
You can always wear the mask at work as well as you begin orientation. That way everyone knows you care about the health of your coworkers but that you want to be there.
Sending lots of strength and peace.
Yes, I'll definitely be wearing a mask.. even on the train, I should wear one. It wouldn't be good to call in sick on my first day.. although, I'd now have paid sick days.. Maybe they'll send me home earlier seeing that went to work with a cold, as I don't want to miss my first day of work.
I've cancelled my counselling session for Tuesday, think I should rest at home instead, and hope by Wednesday, I'd feel better.. Maybe I'll feel better after work, because the first two days of Orientation, I'll be working in an area where I might sweat.. So, maybe after breaking a sweat from work, I would feel better with the cold. Until then, lots of vitamin C-rich foods, and fluids, and sleep. Started taking some Tylenol last night, and this afternoon.. Will take some again before bed tonight.. But my mucous has turned yellow when I blew my nose.. hopefully that's temporary.
@bestVase7265
I am hoping that the cold has improved a little so that your first day went okay. I have been thinking about you. Head colds aren't fun but you are going to get over this hurdle and enjoy the job.
Rest as much as you can.
I will be back in two days again hopefully. We are going on a short weekend trip and I will be in a different time zone, but I think that I still should have time for Cups.
I look forward to hearing about your job adventure.
Luckily my nose wasn't as runny today, but as all my colds always turn out, it's now to coughs. I still have the sniffles, and do need to blow my nose to clear all the mucous, as my voice is still congested.
The train ride was fine, still space to sit on the main floor, didn't have to go up one. The shuttle bus for staff from the Skytrain Station to the hospital was there when I came out of the station. I asked the Security sitting at the Help Desk how to access the elevators to my floor, she gave me some directions but when I went through the main doors, I didn't see the elevators.. luckily, I saw someone leaving, and I asked her.. she led me to them, through a couple more doors. Since I'm on orientation, I have a buddy to work with.. So today, I followed 3 different people. I was told that today is considered as busy, as there were like 46 surgeries.. while their average is usually in the 30s.. But, I found it okay.. By the end of my shift, there were like 15 cases left for the day.. Oh yea, not that I have anything against them, from what I saw, about 95% of the staff are Filipinos.. The hospital that I worked at before (my first hospital and where I will continue to pick up shifts), most of the staff are from India.. Filipinos are a lot friendlier. No wonder why one of the Supervisor was so excited that I joined the team, as we're both Chinese, from Hong Kong, and even the same age.
With my Aunt and Uncle here, yesterday night, they booked for a 2 days 1 night stay at one of our Hotspring Resort.. So, they'll make their way there around 9am tomorrow, and will be back Friday afternoon.. So, tomorrow's dinner.. I'm on my own.. I'm thinking of ordering takeout/delivery.. Don't feel like cooking.. I got home past 5pm today, the drive from the park & ride to my house, there's a stretch of the road that's really busy. Was stuck in traffic there.. Otherwise, it should've just taken me 10-15 mins. It's 8:20pm now.. I'm getting sleepy.. I woke up at 5am this morning.. but I didn't sleep through the night.. I went to bed around 10pm as I was tired, but I woke up around 11:20pm, 1pm and 3:55am.. Hopefully tonight will be better.. as I'm tired already..
A weekend trip sounds nice.. it's good you're saving time to enjoy life.. first the sunset, now a weekend getaway.
@bestVase7265
In a place with no internet access except for about 5 minutes. I will be back by Tuesday. @Jaeteuk
Okay, I am finally back. So sorry that it took so long. I have never been somewhere with so little internet. It was good to get away with the exception of getting really exhausted and panicked near the end.
It does sound you had a good start to your job in spite of the head cold. It is great to be working with friendly people and it was wonderful that nothing was too overwhelming. I am sure that the first week has been a bit of a challenge with the head cold draining more of your energy than normal. But you are getting to work okay and I really think that this is going to be a great job for you.
With the lack of access to internet, at least, you could focus on the getaway, rather than screen time.
As of today, my coughs are much better, but still unable to cough out the phlegm, which does get annoying, because I can taste it in my mouth. I still need to blow my nose from time to time, and the mucous that comes out is still a bit yellow.
3 more days of this morning shift, then, will do the evening shifts, starting this Saturday.. 3:30pm - 11:30pm.. The days I'm not really looking forward to.. because it means, I'm spending A LOT of time on transit before and after my shift. Also, the evening transit, I need to make it to the bus stop for the 12:02am, so that it takes me to the terminal station (which is a skytrain stop) if I miss this one, the last bus will only go half-way, and take the second to last train home. Then, I'll either need to Uber my way home, or someone has to come pick me up. Since my driver's license is still an "N", I cannot be driving between midnight and 5am. So, it's not like I could have my car at a park & ride, then, drive home from it afterwards. Hopefully it doesn't take me that long to walk out to the bus stop late at night.. Need to change quickly, and make my way out.. Might have to test out a couple of ways to get home.. I know Taxi would be most expensive, so probably won't try that.. I guess I could try Uber for one night.. See if anyone will work that late.
My Aunt is leaving tomorrow morning, they're taking their next cruise up to Alaska, then, fly back home from Anchorage to California.. they live by the coast.. which means, my brother can come home tomorrow.. He has been staying at one of his friend's place (close to the hospital I now work at). My mum said that after they drop off my Aunt at the port, they will leave the car at my brother's workplace, so that he could bring his stuff back from friend's place.
You know that Chinese game, Mahjong? Well, my parents and Aunt were playing that last night.. Let's just say, my Aunt and Uncle does not have a quiet voice.. They should know that I need to sleep early and wake up early this morning, they do not know how to lower their voice.. The moment I thought I was going to fall asleep, I am awaken by their laughter at the top of the staircase (which is where my room is).. When I got home today, they were already playing, and since they were playing, mum was like, they won't be eating until past 7pm.. So, after I took a shower, I cooked my own dinner, doubled the ingredients, and packed my lunch for tomorrow too.
I'm so full still though and it's already 8:37pm.. I'll wait a bit more, head upstairs to brush my teeth around 9pm..
@bestVase7265
I am sure that having your aunt and uncle there did make it more stressful however much you enjoy their company. It sounds like things will get back to normal on that front soon.
Colds can be really annoying in that last bit before they finally disappear. I hope that you are doing even better today.
I bet that you will feel better about the late night shift after you have done it a few times in terms of travel. It sounds like you are working towards what will work best for you.
You are doing a great job handling this new position thus far. Keep up the good work. @Jaeteuk
I'm lucky that one of the supervisors is the same Nationality as me, so, we get along quite well. Like today, it was during my shift, I ended up chatting with her for like 30 minutes.. of course, I started off in asking her questions about my job (the station I was working today).. then, she continued talking about other things. The buddy I worked with today, it's my second time with him.. He's working the late shift tomorrow too, and I asked if he could drop me off somewhere.. He has agreed!.. I asked my supervisor if she knows which staff drives or transits.. she said (as she looked at the days I work nights), she says the ones that transit, live close by, so the bus they take is on a different street than if I were to take the bus. She suggested, to ask those who drives, to give me a lift to the nearest Skytrain station of their convenient.. The guy tomorrow, he lives in the same city as me, so, I'll probably just ask him to drop me off somewhere that's on the way for him.. like a mall or strip mall or something.. and then, I'll get my dad or brother to pick me up from there..
With my Aunt and Uncle gone and my brother back home.. he had turned down the heater at nighttime.. so, when I woke up in the middle of the night last night, I needed to cover the extra blanket I had kept on the side of my bed.. He had turned up the heat while my Aunt was here, because we kept it cold during the day and night (to save on the electric bill), and I ended up changing my blanket to a summer one (which is much thinner and cooler than my winter blanket).. But because I caught the cold, I had asked my mum for a second blanket because I don't want to catch a cold in the middle of the night.. But with the heat turned up, I had that second blanket pushed to the side of my bed.. finally using it last night.
Yes, colds are bad for me.. because my airway is more sensitive, my colds always ends in coughs that lasts for at least a month.. You know, I stopped taking a multivitamin for more than 6 months now.. and I find that without it, I've been getting sick more often.. My GP told me to stop taking it because she said I had some vitamins in me that was too much (from the bloodwork results).. I wonder if I can start taking them again.. Before, I felt that taking the Vitamin C and the multivitamin, I didn't get sick that easily.. (like when the weather changes, or if I didn't wear enough layers on a breezy day).
I like my new job so far.. the staff seems nice, and it's good to have a supervisor that speaks the same language and we are both Chinese.. Not like how the rest of the crew are Filipinos and always speak their own language during the shift and during breaks..
Oh man.. something crazy just happened.. I got home today, and my parents checked our mailbox.. I had been selected to do some civil duty and is summoned to attend a court to go through a juror selection.. and if I am selected, I need to go through a 14-day trial.. Just reading the document is already giving me a lot of anxiety.. so, I just went online and requested an exemption.. because of mental health problems.. So, now, gotta wait and see if the Sheriff's Office people accept my request.. if not, I'm not forced to attend to the selection and cross my fingers that I will not be selected.
@bestVase7265
That's an even better plan for your travel. I bet that works out well.
Maybe you can ask your GP if you can go on a smaller vitamin dosage to keep away the colds. I do think that regular vitamin C at a bare minimum would be good. I know that I take something called Airborne which is a fizzy tablet as soon as I get even the least idea that might have a cold. It usually keeps them from coming.
I do think that they will let you off jury duty pretty easily. I would put that one in the "I won't worry about it until my petition gets rejected" category.
Until then enjoy your new job. It is great you are making friends.@Jaeteuk
This morning, when my mum woke up, she was like, "You cannot always ask people to give you a lift".. Especially that I'm still new there, and not close with anyone.. she says with the guy yesterday, it's okay to ask this once, but she said I shouldn't ask for any more rides afterwards.. unless he offers.. Or if I get closer with others who may be able to give me a lift to a skytrain station that's "on-the-way home for them".. So, my mum says there are a few options for me.. Either to try and catch the bus, that takes me to a terminal station where I transfer to a Skytrain home, and have my parents pick me up at one of the stations.. Or to walk to the nearest Skytrain station and take the skytrains home (will need to transfer twice).. Or I could Uber from the hospital to a Skytrain station where I would only need take one train to get home (no transfers).. or Uber to a Skytrain station near my home, and have my parents come pick me up.. All ending with my dad coming to pick me up.
I asked the buddy I worked with last night, she was saying that on buses and skytrains, at the hour we get off.. there would be others who also get off work late on those transportations.. But at the same time, there also may be a lot more homeless or weird people on the skytrain/bus..
My brother bought some tablets too, as recommended by one of his best friends who lives in the States.. There's like 3 types.. One is for Immunity, one is a vitamin C, and another is called Triple Action (which includes 3 vitamins).. I was taking the one for Immunity when I first felt like I was getting sick.. but, I don't think it helped much..
When I did the eReponse for the jury duty to request an exemption.. I'm not sure if the request was sent or not.. it wasn't like there was any confirmation.. But, the document did say, I should hear from them in 2-5 business days.. so, sometime this coming week, or until next Monday, since tomorrow is a holiday for us.. Otherwise, I might need to try and send another request in.. My family says that this opportunity is like winning the lottery.. Apparently, my mum's friend's late husband was once selected, but his exempt excuse was he doesn't know much English.. So he didn't need to do it.. But my parents say, if they do not accept my request, I need to do the jury duty, and work must let me off for those 14 days.
So, on the ride home last night with that coworker, he was saying that when he first finished the course, he took a tour around another hospital, and found out that the staff there are not as friendly, that they work in groups (like the ones who are more senior groups together and have their own ways of things), not really accepting newcomers.. He said, when he first started at this hospital, he felt that everyone was very friendly, and willing to help each other out.. That there are like only 4 staff who started working from the old building, and was moved to current location after renovation.. Those 4 who have been here longest, but still only worked for just under a decade.. Otherwise, many other staff who chose to work here, that this is their first hospital they've worked in, and many have only been around from 0-5 years.. I also found out he lives with his brother in the condos where my friend is selling her place (the one with the puppy), that he has a brother-in-law who recently finished taking the course and is working at another hospital..
I forgot about I was typing a reply, and left it open until now (6pm).. Almost dinner time now.. my parents have plans tomorrow, and I'll be doing my evening shift from Tuesday to Friday.. Then, next Saturday, for 7 days, I'll be doing my part-time line's shifts, the 11-7pm.
@bestVase7265
It definitely sounds like you are at a good hospital. I am so happy for you.
I am not sure that I agree you can't ask people for occasional rides yet. Most people do such stuff willingly as long as they get off at the same time and are going the same direction. But you will figure stuff out with the late shifts soon.
I hope that your cold is improving rapidly. I would do the Vitamin C tablets and see how they help.
If you don't get the exemption for jury duty, you will figure that out too. Every time that I have done jury duty (twice), I actually have enjoyed the experience overall. Sometimes in the US they don't even choose you for a jury. But both of mine were just for a few days. I still think about the cases sometimes. @Jaeteuk
I studied the transit times going to work and returning home.. I think tomorrow night, I'll ask around the staff.. and see if there are others who will be walking to the skytrain station.. if not, then, depending on the time, I'll either try and catch the bus, or call Uber.
Oh, you've done the jury duties before? I'm just afraid the kind of cases they would be.. You know I'm the type of person than absorbs others' emotions.. I just don't know if I'll be affected mentally.. As the papers say though, I was chosen to go through to the selection.. but, if selected, the 14-day trial would start a few hours after.. And yes, I've heard that some people would feel honored for the experience, I guess I'm just not confident if I qualify for such an opportunity.. and if my personality is a good fit.
@bestVase7265
It sounds like your planning for transportation is working out well.
I do hope that you will get the mental health exemption on the jury duty because I do understand the emotions thing. One time I ended up with a short case of one guy who had hit a friend or relative over the head with a rake. The other time it was a drunken woman who had fallen under the wheel of a car that a companion was driving and then the companion had waited a few hours before taking her to the hospital. So both were emotion filled moments and I did empathize a lot which made a decision a little tough. But I felt like with my mental illness that I could see all sides better than some of the other people and that I didn't rush to judgment. So sometimes your way of thinking can actually help you. Still, we will hope for the exemption.
I think also, because I'm to officially start my part-time line June 5th, it won't be good to take 2 weeks off from June 30th to do the jury duty. Although I heard that if chosen, work must allow me to go. But, I'm definitely hoping that I'd be exempted from it altogether.
When I requested it through their eResponse, I'm not sure if the request was sent through.. as there wasn't any confirmation whatsoever.. and with my fear of using the phone (calling or receiving calls), I won't be calling the Sheriff's office for status of my request. I'll wait until end of this week to see if I get a response through email, if not, I'll send in another request.
I have 6 more days of Orientation, June 3rd is my last day. For the last 6 days, I'm finally working the same hours as my part-time shifts.. So, I finally get the chance to see what I'll be doing. For Tuesday and Wednesday, I'll be trained in the Scope room.. something I've never done before.. I was shown it once, like in 2018/19, but have forgotten already. So hopefully, I get a good buddy to train me.
My day off today, and I'll be having lunch with my parents. I woke up late this morning, past 10am and suddenly wanted to eat at a Chinese Restaurant, so we booked a table for 1pm. Which means, I should get dressed soon. Leave my house at 12:45pm.. parents went down to the track to exercise (they always try to walk outdoors when it's not raining). Then, I'll meet them at the restaurant (I usually park at the mall across from it, and walk over). Then, after lunch, we will go back to the mall and look at shoes. My mum had been wanting to buy me new walking shoes for work (since taking transit most of the time now, I'll be walking lots). We had ordered a pair of shoes before, like more than 3 weeks ago.. but still haven't received it, so we cancelled the order.
By the way, I was talking to my friend a couple of days ago. She found a place and will be moving in July. She asked if I would be working at the old hospital in June, as she'll need more boxes to pack. So, I messaged my coworker and requested if she could help me start saving medium/large boxes now. As I'll be working June 23, 24, & 30th. With my friend coming to pick up the boxes June 23rd. She's not moving up the hill anymore though, still driving distance (about 20-30mins away), so, it'll be more difficult to spend time at her place to dog-sit. But, I guess, if I ever go out her way to the Korean market, I could visit her place then. Her new place is close to the Walmart I once worked in for 5-6 years. One of my mum's friend also lives over there. But they don't visit her, because her personality is not really the type of person that is easy to get along with. In fact, my parents try to avoid hanging out with her, unless she initiates it.
My mum just messaged me, saying my brother will join us for lunch too.. He left to work in the office early this morning.. he usually only goes into the office for meetings, and come home to finish his work in the afternoon.. So, I guess he doesn't have any meetings around the lunch hour, so, he's coming back to join us for lunch before continuing to work from home afterwards. Luckily my dad booked the reservation for 4 people.
@bestVase7265
It sounds like you planned and organized things well. It is great that you are now getting onto your more regular schedule. You have done well with training.
I hope that you had a good family lunch.
You are doing a kind thing in helping your friend with moving boxes. I am sure that you will find ways to get together again once you are both settled. It can take a while before things work themselves out.
All is moving in the direction that it should.
2 more days of Orientation! Tomorrow (Saturday) and next Tuesday, then, I officially start my part-time line on Thursday! I went to my favorite Korean restaurant after work today, was supposed to get there by 8:30pm, but I missed the 7:08pm bus, so with the next one, my arrival at the restaurant was 15mins later. I ended up ordering some takeout (as my lunch for tomorrow), then, I went to get gas, as I will be driving to work tomorrow (I also plan to drive every Saturday too, because parking on the weekends = plenty of parking).
I also made an appointment for a haircut next Wednesday.. it's getting long.. might as well get it cut as I start my line the next day. With orientation, I've been going to bed before 10pm, so my time in Cups is less often than you. Hopefully once I start my line, I can be more active on my days off, unless I've got appointments to go to.. But starting June 23rd, all of July and the first 3 weeks of August, I'll be working at both hospitals.. So, I'll only have Wednesdays off.. So, I'll either be able to only check in on Wednesdays, or when I work at the closer hospital, although I plan on taking transit too (as working a 12pm shift, I often need to drive to work at least an hour earlier to find parking - although I only live like a 5 min drive away), but since shift starts at noon, and ends at 8pm, I could still go online in the morning or after work.. depending on if I could catch the 8:13pm bus or need to wait for the 8:47pm.
I also made a phone call appointment with my counsellor, her internship finishes June 24th, I was hoping I could see her in person, but she only works Tuesdays and Thursdays.. Since my new shift starts on Thursdays, there was only 2 Tuesdays to choose from.. Unfortunately, the office is closed on the 10th, and she has a meeting on the 17th, and I need to work on the 24th. So, with the office closed, she agreed we can have our session over the phone. She says, it will be 50mins long.. I wanted to talk to her about the possibility of needing to do that jury duty.. as just the thought of it stresses me out.. The next time I'll see her, she says once she becomes licensed she plan on staying in the same area as now.. she says next December, she'll finish the program.. so, maybe in the future, I can see her again.. which with medical benefits now, my sessions can be claimed.
Anyways, tonight.. I got home around 10pm, because after eating, I went to fill up my car.. I purposely didn't eat a whole lot, just steamed eggs with a bowl of rice.. As, I know I'll need to sleep shortly after I get home.. Need the sleep/rest, since I'll be driving.. But today, I've been awake for more than 15 hours.. was up by 7am..
But you know, throughout my orientation this month, my sleep, has been disturbed in the night.. even when I sleep before 10pm, or wait until midnight, I still wake up 2-3 times before my alarm at 7am. So, by the time I start taking the transit home afterwork, I'd be yawning on the bus. That's why on work days, I try to go to bed shortly after 9pm.

You are doing a great job planning and organizing everything. It will be another transition as you move from orientation to a regular shift, but you are almost there.
This job really sounds like a better fit. You are doing great. You will manage all the extraness of the next few weeks fine I am sure. If you are on Cups less often that's okay.
You will survive the online meeting with your counselor for this once and then hopefully you might be able to see her again as a regular patient. That would be very nice.
I sent in another exemption request the past Monday, and I immediately got a reply Tuesday morning. The Senior Inspector has approved my exemption, and I no longer need to show up in court for the Jury selection. This time, in the details, I wrote that because of childhood traumas, I've developed a fear of strangers with specific facial features. Afraid that my traumas will interfere with my judgment and impair my role as a Juror. And then, in case they feel my request came too late, I also mentioned that I tried sending in a request on the second day upon receiving the Summon, but with no response, I decided to send another request in.
So, that's settled. Sigh of relief, and the stress is gone.
Yesterday was my last day of Orientation, and will officially start my part-time line tomorrow (Thursday). Today is my day off, and I've gone to my hair appointment this morning. My hairstyle is already short, but I have lots of hair.. but it's funny, with a short hairstyle already, needing to trim and cut it shorter again, there's still a lot of hair on the floor. In the past, whenever I try out a new hairdresser, they always say, I have a lot of hair..
So, I found out from my coworkers, especially the one that used to work my line, she says, weekends.. there are premiums, a weekend premium, and evening premium. Evenings start at 1pm.. So, with my Saturdays 11-7pm, and Sundays 3:30-11:30pm; she was saying, Saturdays, it's $3/hr more, and Sundays, it's $5/hr more. Which she mentioned, is close to working a full-time (5 days a week, for 37.5hrs) pay. Which is nice, and wait until July and August, when I'll be working the Mon/Tues and old hospital, working 6 days a week starting June 19th until August 19th. Except for the Mondays that are a Stat holiday, there's no work at old hospital, so there are 2 weeks that are only 5 days a week.
Remember that guy that's from the East Coast who I've known for 20+ years? The one that came to visit here last year, to attend his best friend's wedding.. Well, he says he'll be coming in July for a high school reunion. Except this time, he's staying for like less than 10 days.. I tell him, all of July, I'm only off on Wednesday.. which makes it difficult for us to spend time together, and we can only do so much in one day. But what can I do, I tell him, it's a new job and the shifts at the old hospital had all been pre-booked. So, we'll see what happens.. see if he'll still want to meet up for one day. He's been sending me a lot of links to special cafes and sight-seeing places he wants to go with me.. but one of them, it's like a one-day trip.. as the drive to and back is a few hours, and since I'm only available on Wednesday, it's likely to have traffic. So, we might have to save that trip another time.. and just visit local cafes/restaurants he wants to try instead.
You know, ever since I was hired, my mum had been wanting to buy me a new pair of shoes.. since, I'll be walking a lot now (taking transit), she wanted to buy a pair of Hoka goretex, but it's been difficult to find a color that is neutral enough to match my everyday clothes.. So, we're still looking around.. Watch.. by the time we find one, it's going to start raining.. lolz

All of this sounds great.
You explained the jury duty exemption well and I am glad it was accepted.
You are well prepared to do the new hospital job now and it sounds like you will be quite busy for a bit. That will be good.
And I love the fact that you have a Wednesday outing planned with an old friend. Wherever you go will be good. It will be awesome just getting to talk, but a short excursion would also be nice. @Jaeteuk
