BPD and work

Does anyone else self sabotage their career? I try not to, but to avoid confrontation sometimes i'll just go against the rules. I then immediately regret my actions after because it could cost me my job. I'm talking about when it comes to taking in payment from a guest because we only take certain types of payment, and taking the payment we don't accept, little things like that. I get overly worried about it and scared i'll get into trouble. Then the invasive thoughts start.

@raininglillies13 Sorry to hear that, it must be quite worrying for you. Do you think you can talk to your superior or a colleague about your problem with avoiding conflict? If not, I hope you can be patient with yourself. It's the rule of your workplace so most people will bear with a little discomfort, and if a customer refuses to comply with it, they can be denied service. Good luck!

@raininglillies13 It must be really painful to have to choose between getting into a confrontation OR getting in trouble at your job. Confronting someone can be really painful, both in personal and also formal/business relationships.
It is important to recognize that you aren't being "mean" when you enforce the rules. You are not a bad person for enforcing rules. Please try to be compassionate toward yourself. I would suggest taking a look at some Grounding Techniques. (I have added a link to a breif worksheet.)

Thank you so much ! I printed the worksheet. Your comment helped me right now actually because I'm at work and was feeling down because of a cranky guest. I will definitely try the grounding techniques. =)
