Defeated
Life has been a disaster for about a year and a half. I got to a point where I didn't really meet the criteria for BPD and I have been fighting the diagnosis because I got tired of being called manipulative and attention seeking but having been bullied for months a lot of my BPD symptoms came back and some of them worse than before. I have been trying so hard to improve my life and fighting this diagnosis, but I don't think I can fight it anymore. It fits...but it doesn't make me manipulative or attention seeking. I've just been hurt a lot.

Hello dear
... I'm so sorry this whole stigma / prejudices / they-just-don't-get-it thing keeps making things that hard for you
. Of course this isn't about being manipulative or attention-seeking... ugh if only they had some more background knowledge or knew what it really felt like or at least we're ready and open to TRY and understand things.
But I guess... there's nothing you can do against ppl that do not WANT to change their point of view you know? When their mind really is set and they're convinced of their version of things... you can try as hard as you want and they'll still find proof that their opinion is right and you still are who they think you are...

So I guess at some point it might be better and healthier to put self-protection first and try and leave those ppl behind. Or at least somewhat. Because if all they ever do is drag you down further, no matter how hard you try... ugh, where's the point in keeping up that fight you know. I'm afraid mutual understanding only works if both sides go for it and are willing and open-minded enough to try and see things through the other's eyes.
So yeah hun... you don't need to fight your BPD diagnosis... having that diagnosis is a legit thing when it fits. But it's okay though, it doesn't make you a bad person or anything. It's a mental health condition, even when the symptoms hit and you react on that stuff.

You're worth being accepted that way, even with BPD and all the struggle and hardships that might mean. But at the same time you're still WAY MORE than just BPD, you're a whole person, so there's way more to see and discover about you than just BPD related stuff!!
And if ppl can't do that... Ugh, honestly, they're not worth your time and your nerves. And that you're like, fighting a pointless battle for them when they aren't even willing to let you win.
I'm glad you're here though, so at least you got one place where there's no such stigma and you don't have to fight like that.
Cause ppl are at least on your side or have even been through the same kind of thing. So you can just be who you are and it's still all good...

Hope to see you around hun! <3

PS: And by the way I don't think you're anything like "defeated" for accepting your diagnosis and realizing that being bullied for that long took its tall on you. You're only human too and there's only so much one can take. And realizing that sort of stuff mainly is an APRROACH to find out what you could do to get better you know.
So you didn't get defeated at all, but actually had the courage to really look at things and take a first step and all that. ![]()

I used to 100% accept the BPD diagnosis and was a huge advocate for people with BPD because of the stigma. It was when i started getting treated poorly by professionals in the mental health field that I started questioning and fighting it. According to professionals my panic attacks are manipulative. My dissociation is manipulative, and my suicidal ideationn is attention seeking. Insurance once refused to pay for treatment because they said I wouldn't get any better. It's ridiculous.

Pffff oh boy no way... when that bs is coming from actual PROFESSIONALS, so you'd think they got a degree and special knowledge and maybe even professional skills, so they would PERHAPS have the ability to know better than that huh...

Like, those ppl falling for the same stigma nonsense as those who have zero insights and understanding for mental illness. Their poor clients, srsly. I really hope you'll find some actual real professionals eventually... that actually deserve that title..
