How to deal with it?
Hi! I’m T. 21 years old. I recently got diagnosed with bpd.
I feel disturbed with my numbness as if it’s buzzing me making me more anxious. I keep jumping from one thing to another hoping it goes away but it’s always there. I usually have it around this time of the night. I wanna push everyone away yet I need someone around to feel things I’m not able to feel. I do hate to be alone but I don’t have stable relationships. What can I do?

Hi T--thanks for sharing. 💜 That makes sense what you're describing:
- There's this consistent numbness that is really hard to deal with.
- You try different activities in the hopes of having it go away, but nothing really seems to help.
- The idea crosses your mind of reaching out to people to try to feel something, but relationships feel really difficult and destabilizing, so there's an urge in the opposite direction of wanting to push everyone away.

HERE is a link I was able to find that has some tips related to emotional numbness. Some of the ideas mentioned include reaching out to someone who you can share feelings with, maintaining physical well-being (e.g. exercise/sleep), and trying mindfulness practices.

I can imagine being diagnosed at such an early age because I too was diagnosed with a disorder at age 19. I was in University and I was very confused and I didn’t know how to build relationships at that time. I wasn’t discouraged, though. So never give up. You have to work at it, every day. Hard work works. At night time maybe drinking chamomile tea can help the anxiousness. You can drink it hot or cold. I have trouble sleeping at times or mostly. I don’t force myself to sleep. I now listen to motivational speeches an app called Mindset. I wish the best for you. Just trust in something more powerful. So you can be protected, directed and corrected.
