In need of some support

This year has been really difficult for me, especially the second half of the year. In July I had to quit my job because the environment was too toxic and triggering. I got my health insurance through my job. So when I lost my job I had quit therapy and meds because I could no longer afford them. I also moved back in with my mom and dad. My dad was really abusive while I was growing up, but he changed himself for my mom when she had a stroke, so I thought things would be better, but they weren't. He was still abusive towards me. He told me things like he tried to kill himself to get away from me because I'm a piece of crap and complained about how miserable I make his life. He was also telling me I had to get rid of my emotional support dog. I was also trying to finish college this semester, but between the lack of meds and therapy along with the abuse from my dad, my mental health took a nose dive. My BPD symptoms really flared up and my bipolar was out of control. I had gotten to the point that I was just trying to find something to look forward to in everyday so that I could get through the night. But then Friday came along and I had nothing to look forward to for several days. That week I came closer to trying to kill myself than I have in years and so I knew that I needed to get help. So on November 3rd I checked myself into the psychiatric hospital. I was there for 18 days, I was discharged on the 21st. I was on a unit specified for trauma, so it was a little more intense. We tried to do EMDR but it wasn't effective because my memories of my trauma aren't vivid enough. On the 17th they were going to send me home, they were pretty much going to give up on me because I hadn't made any progress in 14 days of treatment, but that morning they asked if I had suicidal thoughts and I told them I did and they asked if I had a plan and I said I did at home so they kept me for the weekend. I spent the first 14 days completely dissociated and remember very little from those 14 days. There was a woman there that was there before me and we didn't talk at all until my 15th day. But around noon on day 15 I snapped out of my dissociation and things were okay again. I was pretty much like myself. I started singing along to the radio and dancing around the dayroom with one of the other patients and it was fun. Though while I was there I had an image flash through my head and I'm not sure if it's something my brain made up or if it's a memory trying to resurface, so I'm not really sure what to do about that. So then I was discharged on November 21st. When I discharged I went to my parents house got some of my essentials and went to my cousins. My cousin and her husband said I could live with them because things were so bad with my parents. Staying with my cousin has been helpful and I've been doing much better since coming here. On Thanksgiving we took my cousin's daughter to my parent's house to meet my dog because she was going to come live with us, just had to get some paperwork filed and approved on her. A few days later we were able to get my dog. At first my dog was super friendly and loved everyone, including the 2 year old in the apartment. But then after a few days she started growling and getting aggressive, mainly with the 2 year old and we don't know why. Now she's being aggressive towards me. She growls at me for petting her. I don't know what's wrong. It's likely a combination of things. I'm pretty sure she has some trauma from before I got her because she is a rescue from the shelter, and then my dad was abusive to her as well, and then moving is stressful on dogs, and add in meeting 2 new adults and a toddler to the mix, so I think she's been pretty anxious, but I'm also worried that she is not feeling well. We have reason to believe that she has some sort of worms because we think we saw some in her poop, and today my mom told me that she found worms on one of the cats, but I don't have money to take my dog to the vet because I currently have no income and I have no money. I've been asking family for money just to have gas to get to my appointments and to help with the cost of food at the apartment. I don't know how I'm going to afford my meds or pay my phone bill this month because I have no money. I would like to get my dog taken care of because I don't want her to not feel well and I want my sweet lovable dog that I've known for the last 3 years. The money thing also has me stressed out because I feel guilty staying here and not being able to help. I don't think that I have the ability to work right now because I'm still not very stable. I've been doing better and I'm managing my stress much better, but it's still really hard.

My beautiful friend, Thank you for sharing! You and I have talked about some of this, but it is good for me (I think) to have things in the right timeline order and the extra details I didn't know before. My SFO and I were just at the vet today. Thankfully it was not too expensive but I still had to borrow money (in the form of pay by credit card). I am SO very glad you can have your dog with you - you need her! And she needs you too. It's probably like part of her brain forgot that - need for you - partly if not fully because she doesn't feel well physically.

I am so sorry to know your dad was abusive to you in the last 6 months (aka recently) or the time you lived with them at home. It makes me angry that he extends his abusive actions toward your dog :( I am so sorry, dear one.

I wish I had some wisest words or advice to tell you. I wish I could use a wand and make things for you .... just better. Get you some money for prescriptions, for therapy, for your wonderful dog. Some money to give to your cousin and her family -- I know, it's weird living with someone, even family, and not being able to contribute for food or gasoline or something. BUT they love you dear, that is why they'll let you stay with them.

So since I don't have amazing words or advice, or a magic wand, etc, to fix things ... I'll tell my SFO and we will pray for you. Please know, dear Beautiful, I care about you. I am glad you are on 7cups and that I was able to meet you here. I hope you'll have a good sleep tonight :) Take good care of you, ok? Hugs and then more hugs!!! <3 Platy
