Struggle to accept that I'm gonna be like this for all my life
Hi everyone!
I need a little advice. I've been diagnosed with bpd a couple of years ago and I've had many ups and downs. I thought I had accepted my situation and could face the difficult moments. I've been in a depressive phase for almost three weeks now and I'm running out of energies. Suddenly, the thought that this thing is not going away and that I'll have to struggle with moments like this one for the rest of my life, makes me panic and feel even more depressed. I'm usually quite good at dealing with moments of depression, over the years I've found several strategies, but this time it feels like I cannot do it, no matter what I try and no matter that I live in a beautiful place with beautiful people who always supports me.
I don't know what to do...
@VeraSigyn I'm not an expert, and so I can't give you any advice, but searching the Internet for BPD recovery seems to show that recovery is definitely possible, and maybe even common.
I know that some therapists think of BPD as a lifelong condition, and the best they feel they can do is to offer coping strategies. But there are other therapists who look deeper than the diagnostic label, and it's my impression that they get better results.
So my suggestion is that you might want to consider doing your own research on recovery, to establish that what I've said here is true, and to identify how you can start to move beyond coping strategies and your continuing struggle.
If you'd ever like to chat about these things, feel free to message me.
