Trying to Decipher the Emotional Storm

... or in simpler terms, the attempt at making sense of emotions that are difficult to explain traditionally. I often use metaphors to make sense of my emotions. It may sound strange, but it helps. And often, those metaphors involve meteorological phenomena.

Right now, I feel like a mildly rainy autumn day. It's cool, damp, slightly windy, and the rain falls at a steady, yet soft pace. The clouds are varying shades of gray, from milky white to almost black. Dead leaves strung across the ground, the smell of decay mixed with that of wet soil.

That's how I feel, inside. It's hard to make sense of it. A lot of disappointment, sadness, stress, and a bit of hopelessness. That sounds simpler... but doesn't quite explain how I feel as well as the previous paragraph. There's something missing...

Language is a beautiful thing. So this is how I utilize it. Trying to give a form to these emotional storms that cannot be fully explained, nor understood.

@RavenousSoul You have a beautiful way with words! Do you write or anything?

Thank you! I used to write a lot, in my adolescence. I'm trying to get back into it. Oftentimes, I find the words come most easily when my soul is shaken, and I'm trying to piece together the aftermath. My emotions and thoughts drive a lot of my writing. I wrote a lot while in the hospital. It was a safe haven for me.

If you find it therapeutic then go for it! I'm sure others would love to read what you write, or even it could be just for you. Do you enjoy journalling? :)

They say it will be ok . Your young and pretty . There are people who have it a lot worse than you. I know that! So I feel bad for feeling bad . Your still in love with him! No he is not a good person . But if my life were a log and he were a chipper and the world a bottle of supper glue saying you will be fine. So I try to pretend it's ok everything is fine . I fall. So I frantically try and put the pieces back together . They act like I want to hurt. It kills me that my state of mind and suicidal thoughts plague my family I'm so sorry #!!!!! I am soo sorry . So they label me and give me pills inside I'm still dying crying out for help

@RavenousSoul

I think I know what you mean by language as a tool to express ourselves, beyond the simple label of emotions. You painted beautiful imagery with what you said, and I can totally relate that to the emotions you labeled that work in conjunction with that image. Words definitely help me make sense of things, at least a little.

All my love,

Lee.
