unstable sense of self
does anyone else just feel like everything they think or say is a lie even when it's most certainly true. i feel like if i thought about anything about myself for enough time i would begin to question it and feel like im lying about it. i feel crazy
Hello, @funnyDog8378
You are not crazy! Life can confuse us sometimes, and your feelings are completely understandable! I feel this way too sometimes, and I totally get where you're coming from.
Try to stay positive!
@funnyDog8378 Having an unstable sense of self is really difficult to cope with. Your feelings are valid. Many people with personality disorders struggle with a lacking an identity that feels "authentic" to them. You might not know what you really like, what music you are into, or what you enjoy doing. You might have trouble figuring out what career you want and find yourself changing jobs every few years or even more often. Figuring all of that out would requires a lot of trial and error... which can be really scary for a person who did not feel safe enough to discover their own identity as a child.
It is hard to cope with a lack of sense of self. But it is also important to find this out so that you can have an authentic, fulfilling life.

Thank you so much
@Bwalker9 I wish the best for you, thank you for having the courage to share your worries here
@StarlitSky4762 thank you for this, I really relate to what you said about switching jobs every few years. I typically want to quit a job after three months because I don't like it anymore and feel it isn't a good fit and want to continue my search for a job I am happy to go to each day for the most part instead of dreading it. I never related it this chronic job disatisfaction with my unstable sense of self but that makes sense and also gives me hope. Thank you!
@ImaginativePenny152 that makes sense. thank you for having the courage to share this with the community.
