BPD and Lonliness
Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with BPD and it helped to give some clarity to some behaviours I have had. A lot of people I have talked to have suggested that I should rely on a support group of friends that can help me. The only problem is that I only have around four friends, and none of them are willing to be able to be there for me. It's been getting so hard recently and things keep getting worse because I don't have any outlet.
I have two questions.
Is there any coping mechanisms any of you have found that helps to calm your nerves when you want to talk to someone but have no one?
Does it get any better?
@ERothby
I would say just because you have Noone that you should halt getting a social support system..
I just gave up one day and just started to talk to anybody that would listen to me.. my life has improved dramatically since i decided to reachout to people.🌟

Hi there 💜 Makes sense that you're kind of in a catch-22 where the standard advice is to reach out for support, but your intuition and lived experience is telling you that the people around you aren't reliable supports. Glad you're reaching out here--and worth noting that any interactions you have on this site count as "support" too.
Sharing a page that lists some different resources and things. The top few are most relevant (i.e. how to find listeners on 7 Cups who offer support for BPD, some different coping mechanisms/tricks from DBT which is the gold standard therapy for BPD)

There's actually research showing that most people with BPD get better over time and BPD is highly treatable
