I must be crazy because…PD’s need love too

Hey cups family 💛 I’m going through the acceptance phases of being married to a person who embodies many/most of the things in the Dark Triad of PD’s - I seem to be a magnet for cluster B people in general, and something in me honestly believes that underneath Narcissistic, Psychopathic, Antisocial Personality Disorders, etc. is a human who needs to be openly accepted as such and is still deserving of love. There are flawed points in that of course, however, I have found that true love doesn’t play by logical reasoning rules.

I met someone socially 8yrs ago, we became friends and later became roommates, then dated for a couple years. Long and short is after being madly in love with a person who eventually admitted things that most anyone else would say deserves the worst kind of punishment, (I’m talking like the death row kind) I still saw a human heart. We took time apart, we got back together. I’m downplaying this part heavily for the readers sake but let’s just say this means we separated on good terms, then both sides travelled/moved across the country to make it work. We really believe that our strange balance works and weirdly it does, we actually have a very strong relationship and marriage. I know what my partner really is, and in spite of that there is genuine love between us. Somedays the forbidden cornfield full of nightmare fueled PD monsters comes alive, somedays it’s blissfully peaceful.

I guess my point is that accepting the truth about a person who doesn’t fundamentally function like others means it can be loving, lonely and lunacy all in the same day. I’m not unhappy, just unsure exactly how much I deserve a trip to the proverbial padded room because I’m married to a very “multi-faceted” person and I’m ok with it.

I’ve never said any of this to anyone before, but had to get it out of my head and I don’t know if this is the wrong place but thank you to anyone who read this and held space 🫶🏻

@Strawbadger

Granted!

Not easy to say or admit!

But, yes, everyone deserves and needs love!

@Strawbadger

Hey, thank you for sharing this. 💜 I love the idea that people can be flawed or operate differently but they're still people and worthy of love. And that's wonderful that you've found a way to navigate the complexity and find beauty and something mutually fulfilling and meaningful in that relationship.
