Learning the facts and fictions of ASPD

Tw: deep talk, ASPD, Discussion, and reflection questions

A bit ago a member had asked me to possibly do a forum post about ASPD, and I took my time to collect the information. What better place to do it than the Personality Disorders community page? Let's get into the discussion, ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder) means an individual occasionally lacks moral regard for others, indicating that the individual has a harder time forming emotional connections whether platonically or even romantically. 
Facts: 
-Most individuals who deal with ASPD struggle with repeating patterns such as lying and struggle with work relationships 

- ASPD can be diagnosed around 18 years of age, the earliest age is 15 years old 

- Symptoms have been proven to not occur from other Mental Disorders 

-Occasionally someone with ASPD can be chaotic enough to get themselves into trouble 

Fiction: 

-ASPD is a made-up disorder that people use for attention ( ASPD occurs from severe traumatic childhood, the individuals do not do any of these things for attention) 

-ASPD is the same as Autism ( They have some similarities but they are not the same, there is a compare and contrast image below showing the differences and similarities <3 ) 

-ASPD is the same thing as Borderline Personality Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder (Each of these Disorders is its own and is not the same by any means) 

-An Individual with ASPD will continue to act out or not care ( This is very untrue because some that do deal with this Disorder do seek help and treatment, therefore creating an easier time with having a support system) 

To end this on a bright note, if you or a loved one is dealing with ASPD please know that you are not alone, and you are valid. You deserve to be apart of this world <3
