National Good Neighbor Day
Hello everyone!
Today we celebrate the National Good Neighbor Day! 🎉
It’s a celebration that has the goal to put emphasis on how to improve the relationship among neighbors to build a more connected and caring community.
Establishing a good relationship with your neighbors is an excellent way to ensure peace and safety in your neighborhood. It’s good to create mutual respect and a sense of trust with the people surrounding you. Communication is key in building strong neighbor relationships. So, while you may not talk to your neighbors every day, you can keep open lines of communication in case something comes up.
Before we start I would remind everyone that we do what we can, not everyone finds it easy to communicate with others or to have casual conversations! We can discuss together, if we feel we can improve with it and to think if there are some positive aspects about improving relationships with neighbors that could benefit our daily life!
Now let’s discuss it together!
* How do you think it should be the ideal/good relationship among neighbors?
* How do you feel about your relationship with people living in your neighborhood or in your same building/block?
* What are some ways you could improve the interaction with them?
* Is everyone respecting people’s boundaries where you live?
* What are some difficulties, if there are any, you experience when it’s about the interaction with the neighborhood?

I think that having a good relationship with your neighbors means being respectful and greeting each other. I recently moved to a suburban area, it's very different from where I use to live. I haven't yet been able to interact with my neighbors because I don't really see anyone walking or sitting outside. I guess I could improve our relationship by initiating the conversation when we see each other. I would say that everyone here respects each others boundaries because my neighborhood is really quiet.
@jzheng2025
Hello there jzheng2025, how are you? 😊
I'm glad to read about the situation you are experiencing, it seems that things can improve for good in steps, it'd be good that you can feel at ease with neighbors!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what it means to interact with others in a positive way!
@MeaningfulSilence, okay First of all, GREAT post! I would like to copy this to an email to my apartment manager! Not because it doesn't happen here, but rather to highlight the importance of even knowing your neighbors a little bit. Because I fully agree that:
Good neighbors make great neighborhoods! (and good neighbors can make for safer neighborhoods, too!) Bonus: there might even be free cookies! 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 @fristo @sunisshiningandsoareyou @KristenHR @ASilentObserver @Kate @GlenM
Let’s discuss! (Platy begins by passing out cookies) Feel free to take two if you like; there are many more! 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪 🍪
First ice breaker question: What is your favorite type of cookie, or pie?
That can be a good ice breaker question for IRL too. Example: Hey person who is my neighbor but I don't know you very well ... "What's your favorite kind of cookie?" or "What is your favorite dessert?"
Me? Well, I like cookies fresh from the oven, the kind that are almost too hot to eat :) I also like soft brownies and from the store? Oreos! All the Oreos! :) hehe. <3 Platy
@cyanPlatypus6370 I smelled cookieeeessssss, that's probably the easiest way to summon Sunny! xD
That sounds soooo delish, Platyyyy, my mouth's watering now!🥰
I love cakes the most! But if we are speaking strictly cookies, then I'll pick the double chocolate chip ones, with infinite amount of chocolate chips in it, if possible! 😂
