We all experience things in our lives differently and this can sometimes cause people to believe common stigma. What do you wish others knew about Personality Disorders?

@GrahZeymahzin I think alot of people with BPD can relate to this article. I can relate to this statement.

( I want you in my life but I cannot have people around me who arent supportive. If you cant be with me here in the valley then please dont expect to come and stand with me on the top of the mountain when I eventually make it (and I will despite how it often feels like I wont).

People are so quick to leave you in the dark but it's in the dark when you need them the most. That's what I wish people knew 🧡

@GrahZeymahzin i wish that people would know and accept that people with personality disorders arent "dangerous" or "crazy" or any of those other stigmas that we've been labeled. People with BPD arent inherently abusive, people wtih DID dont have alters that are dangerous..none of the stigmas surrounding personality disorders are true, and hearing those stigmas and having labels put on a whole group of people just because the movies presented them in a bad light can be really hurtful

i hope one day people will become more educated about this

That is a really big thing for a lot of people. But definitely!!! A disorder never makes someone crazy or dangerous. A disorder does not define us nor does it give a generalization about everyone with the disorder will be like!! We are all individuals and no two of us will be the same so stigma on it will not be true because it is a generalization that usually doesnt even make sense for the people included in it. Ex. Someone who has a personality disorder that people find out about later on, they dont go from whatever they may have been labeled as (if anything) to crazy or dangerous because of people finding out about a disorder.

We are so much more than our mental illness.

@itslovelytobelovelyy

Absolutely!!! We are not defined by our personality disorders and just being diagnosed never changes anything about us!!! We are here and we may act or think in ways that are influenced by a disorder, but it does not define who we are as a person or what we can/will do!!
