What is the most challenging thing about your personality disorder?
@HalliwellSister
I have a God complex.
Pro: Unapologetic arrogance is charming
Con: Arrogance
Pro: Confidence leads to aiming high
Con: Dealing with failure is sh*t.
Pro: Discussions tend to be intellectual
Con: People can't keep up in discussion, and you are ostracized
Pro: Visionary
Con: Toxic
NPD:
-I'm hella difficult and stubborn, even if it causes my downfall or drives people away from me.
-My standards for things/people are ridiculously high.
-I think lacking empathy makes me relate less to others. I can understand what people are feeling or where they're coming from, and people do like me (at least until they get too close for too long), but without actually caring, there's a certain level of disconnectedness.
ASPD traits:
-I have a horrible temper and authority issues that have caused me to have a hard time holding a job.
-I have poor self control. That's also caused problems in school and in holding a job. If I don't want to do something, I don't have that guilty, nagging feeling that people talk about, so I just simply don't do it, then it comes back to bite me in the ass and only then am I seemingly able to give a shit.
-Not really caring about right/wrong/morality also affects the way I relate to others.
DID and I would have to say not letting the wrong ones out.
@adaptablehouse7827 I have DID too
NPD:
-Splitting over things that don't involve me.
-The fact that I also have ADHD and it makes me look/feel stupid.
-Emotional distance and lack of empathy when it comes to issues involving others.
-Inablity to form relationships due to 'that one thing' that proves that person unworthy of my attention.
-I take everything as a personal attack.
DPD:
-Inability to make decisions for myself, anxiety related to others trying to sway against set in stone decisions.
-My depended is an alter who I am in an LDR with and who rarely fronts when we are apart.
-Panic attacks when I know he is upset with me or I cannot contact him.
I have not been medically diagnosed but am 99% sure I have ASPD... I am 34yr old and have had issues with constantly lying to my parents since I was very young and now with my fiancé... Most times it is about something that is minor and know I should be honest about but it's like something takes over and I in a way panic and this impulse to "protect" myself over powers that thought to just be honest and a lot of the time the lie has already come out before my brain can stop it... it has caused A LOT of issues with my parents and my fiancé and no matter how many times I try to stop and want to stop I can't seem to control it.... any suggestions, thoughts or help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
I have DID..Coping with all those lifes at the same Time is not easy..
I suffer the consequences of all of them..
I might switch at the middle of an event and you can guess how confusing it is
Im having trouble being monogamous because my man alter is into women
I have anger management issues because what I can tolerate might be a disaster for the rest
Mood swings
Just noticing how other people naturally seem to do things that I find very difficult
The most challenging thing for me is becoming unstuck. Once I get stuck, I can't seem to get unstuck. Then the downward spiral begins. I start to remember all the horrible things that have been said to me, I see nothing positive about my life and I want a divorce. People think I'm a careless bitch but really I just a want a good friend.
@Lilmama1986 Awwwww I can be your friend!
I think for me it's the self sabotaging that I tend to do. I work really hard to get myself into a good place but as soon as I perceive anything bad happening I'm like a rabbit caught in headlights. Like other peeps have mentioned here it's the downward spiral then that I can't get out myself out of.
@Kikumars Thanks for sharing ! What do you think can help you with that ? Are there any coping skills , any dbt skills you could do ?
@Cathlisa
Hiya! You're welcome and that's a great question .I have found mindfulness really helpful to just be aware of if I'm getting into a negative spiral and to help me try and make a conscious choice about what could help the situation as opposed to being pulled into automatic coping mechanisms that aren't always helpful.
@Kikumars mindfulness is such a good skill to have and I'm so happy to hear it has been helpful for you 💓
Schizoid and Antisocial PD:
I hate everyone except for a few people. Some of them I even want to hurt or worse. I don't relate to others hardly at all which annoys people and then they in turn get mad at me for. Wanting to go out and to some spontaneous shit but not having the motivation or actual "umph" to leave my room.
I was diagnosed with bpd, but my actions are like 60% bpd And 99% sociopathy. I have feelings, but lot I fake And lot straight negative like pain or hate or irritation. To OP, we share some stuff, worst part is for mě I have Zero motivation for others And motivation for me is way too Long term.
