Smile but it only a mask

She smile to everyone

but it only a mask she wears

within she not smiling at all

deep trauma from years of abuse

the scars and wounds are there deep within

but she smiles it what she was taught to do by them that abused her

smile smile they said to her do not show your sad or even mad just smile

so she smiled even when she was bruised and in pain from what they did to her

years have pasted and she no longer physically abused but the scars be there

she still smiles acts like she on to them around her

people who know her as a child do not believe her when she tell them the truth

they say you was always smiling joyful and delightful

she fooled them well now they say that could not have been happening

smile smile even within the storm and chaos it what you were told to do

why why still doing the smiling even in deep pain

even now that you free the answer is the habit to hard to break

even when she try to not smile it come on her face

some can see it as mask to keep what happened a secrets from others

what if they saw the truth what shame they see what pain they see could they handle that

could they handle the truth that hidden within her deeply

what they add to her pain by not believing her

this is hard for her to decide as it would be showing her scars and wounds that still not healed

would they run away from her in disbelief or wounds they stay and support her

we do not know we not sure it safe to tell it all to them around
