In the field of fireflies
A warning sign flickered among the fireflies
yet still the air commanded us to pause,
to stand within its weight and witness it
The future, timid as a startled fawn,
asked to keep my hands unseen,
if I touch should frighten them away
I trust the dark, it has been kind to me
Not every omen carries devastation,
nor every river seeks my heart for home

The use of a firefly as a symbol of light, of hope, of delicacy.
How quickly things can change.
How hard they can be to hold onto.
Speaks to how we should embrace life, while the chance presents itself 💚😊
