Mirrored Steps
If you step back,
I'll step back too.
If you move forward,
I'll follow you.
I'll echo your pace,
Reflect what you do,
But never the first
To start something new.
We look in sync,
Side by side in frame,
But mirrored steps
Aren't quite the same.
So don't turn around
And claim I stood still,
When you were the one
Who walked back at will.

Such good writing. 🩵 Is there any story behind it? I would love to know, if there is.
@River Thank you so much 💙
It's about the past self watching, waiting, reminding the present that mirroring isn't the same as moving. It's about old patterns, the tension between comfort and change, and the difficulty of claiming responsibility for the decisions we make ^-^

I'll echo your pace is powerful!
Sometimes we see others and we see how their lives are going, and we feel the world has left us behind, we feel we should be doing more, be more, measuring ourselves by outside standards, whilst importantly we should be going at a pace true to us! 💜🥰
@BlueDarkAurora Beautifully poem, BlueDarkAurora— quiet, but cutting. Reads like a soft echo with sharp edges. I really loved the lines -
"I'll echo your pace,
Reflect what you do"
@azurePond Thank you Pond ^-^ 💙
