My Friend, I've Been There Too..
Do you know what it is like?
To always think of suicide
To stand beside the tracks and think
It could be over in a blink.
To stand beside the rooftop bar
And think, one jump, it's not that far
To stand beside the kitchen top
One knife, one stab, it all would stop
Do you know what it is like?
To plan your route to suicide?
To overdose, or sufficate
To plan, to rouse, to contemplate
To want an end to all the pain
Oh once a day you yearn in vein
And then at night you plan your wake
Familiar faces all to blame
Oh if your loved ones only new
That u felt this bad what would they do
Beside the thought you yearn for help
For those to know you're not that well
To understand, to reach your soul
To give you what you needed most
A hand, a nod, a gentle soothing
You're okay.. hopes not for losing
To wrap you up and stop the thoughts
To tell you "yes you are enough"
And then you'll turn to a friend
A hand you'll give, you're on the mend
You'll wrap them in warm embrace
And tell them of the life you faced
You contemplated, yearned and tried
But help was there to be applied
And now my friend, I'll help you too
Just tell me, do you plan death too?
Because if so, I'm here to listen
And give you words of gentle wisdom
You're not alone, I've been there too
Just talk to me, I'll help you through
I know life sucks and thoughts are worse
But it's time you tried to put help first
It's out there kid so just be honest
I'm here for you, I make this promise
Don't fear my judgement or remorse
I want to know to help, of course.
Please tell me now, so I know
I'm here to help, not watch you go

Well done. An uncomfortable read for certain but well worth it. It's melodic rhythm and use of rhyme softens the blow of the very intense subject matter without taking away it's impact. As @Tinywhisper says, it's hopeful message and the metaphorical outstretching of a helping hand from someone who has trod the path leaves us with a sense of potential.
Very nicely written. *Bows in acknowledgement*

This poem is incredibly moving and heartfelt. The way you express such raw pain, yet also offer understanding and a willingness to help, really struck me. You’ve captured the inner turmoil of someone struggling, but also the power of kindness and support. The shift from despair to reaching out to help is beautiful—it’s a reminder that we’re never truly alone, even in our darkest moments. Your words offer a sense of hope and compassion that is so needed. Thank you for sharing something so honest and humane. Take care!
@BeeOKay beautiful poem, beautiful message. You have a wonderful soul 🩷
