Thanksgiving meaning for different peoples
Thanksgiving meaning for different peoples
We stand at a door in the past
long long ago for a people of old
they had their ways and beliefs
but when another people came
they was told their beliefs and ways were wrong
they was forced to be changed forever as a people
children taken from parents to be forced into away they did not believe in
even their very names were changed as that to was striped from them
each generation after that one has been effected too
they lost a lot due to the ones that came into their land
many now ask why it happened in some ways still happening
but they never lost sight of their truth even within the abuse
they held head up and tried to keep what is their way of life
a time has came were they can once again teach their kids and others their ways
they have overcame a lot through many many years
they now have a song of old back in their hears
broken hearts but not broken spirits at all
they fly above their past to make a new path with their beliefs and theitr ways
when you sit around the table at thanksgiving remember them
remember that weight of this holiday for them is sorrow that runs deep
see things through their wounded hearts not through hearts that cold to them
they grieve what was a sad sad time for their people
in many ways still is as they had so much taken from them
so be thankful in a new way by seeing things in a new light
so look at both the joy of this holiday for some
but also look at the sorrow of this holiday for others
be thankful for all people not just the people you part of by birth rights
to us the eagle fly high above seeing all things
we see the sorrow of the native Americans who have lost so much
been abused by the white people who came took their land
took their ways even their very kids from them
just because they did not believe the same did not acted the same
so take to heart what they have lost and still losing
thanksgiving for them is a day of morning and sorrow
remember too that if others not believe same as you not live as you do
that not mean their beliefs and ways of life are not as true as yours
it just means they different learn from their ways what they mean to them
look at things outside your own people into the heart of other peoples ways
let thanksgiving be a time of being thankful for all the different people in the world
learn about each of their ways as by learning we become more thankful for all ways of life

@stormieandpaws It's such a heart touching poem! ✨ Thank you for sharing this perspective.
I have learned about Thanksgiving, and your words are the wonderful reminder for me to see the holiday through the eyes of others again and honor their history and resilience. Wishing you a thoughtful and meaningful day with best wishes and warm hugs. 💖 Oh, also I remember you get alot of candies from the thanksgiving parade and then a family meal with turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. I don't like really like turkey but I like mashed potatoes, pies, and candies. Also, there is a baking and icing early Christmas cookies tradition after Thanksgiving feast. I love that too! 😊

we want others to really think about all sides around thanksgiving so many do not for us thanksgiving bitter sweet due to growing up in abuse when our family got tpgather was fighting and well that made it very bad our ex hubby family was like that too so holidays and how ech can feel about them very personable but grandma always started cooking like 2 weeks before for holiday so food was good and lots of it
but that stopped after grandpa passed when we was 10yr so then came the not getting together best thanksgiving we had as adult been with what we call family of the heart ones who truly care and support you
so for us it different then for most too
we glad the poem touched your heart too
@stormieandpaws Thank you for sharing something so personal. It sounds like Thanksgiving has been a mix of painful and meaningful moments for you. Growing up around conflict can make holidays feel really complicated, and it makes sense that those memories still sit heavily. Your grandma’s cooking sounds like it brought some warmth into those years, even if things changed after your grandpa passed. I’m really glad you’ve found a family of the heart as an adult. Having people who truly care and support you can make such a difference, especially around holidays that bring up a lot of emotions. And again thank you for the poem, it truly touched my heart. You expressed something that many people quietly feel. Sending warm wishes and hugs your way! 💕💕💕
