The Willow Tree
The withered willow was weak,
Disheveled from the weight of its leaves,
The branches loudly creak
From the harsh blowing breeze,
It’s wild leaves entangled
Around the vines of thorn,
The branches get mangled
Having not been forewarned,
It is wayward and sly
Despite its age,
The branches cry,
It’s happiness is caged,
It yearns to be free
Like the birds who fly high,
It wants to see
The blue of the sky,
It’s rooted to the floor
Like it’s restricted by chains,
It wants an open door
And to be free from its reins,
It has a sliver of hope,
But it’s been trapped for a while,
It sits around all day and mopes
Without the slightest smile,
It cries for help with silence,
It watches us pass by,
The birds respond with violence
Making the tree start to die,
But it’s old and weak,
No one gives it a thought,
It can’t yell or speak,
It just sits there and rots,

This may literally be about a tree, but to me it speaks of the state of humanity.
Yearning to be free, we cry for eternity, grasping hopelessly for the will to be.
When will we see? That it is because of you that I can be me?
In time things are improving, but without water, there is no tree.
Fantastic poem by the way. It's deep. Keep writing!
@duckylistens37 I loved this, it was awesome. Thank you for sharing. 🤗
The Willow Tree is a reflective poem that portrays a withered willow struggling under the weight of its branches, tangled vines, harsh winds, and years of neglect. The tree becomes a powerful symbol of feeling trapped, unheard, and unable to escape difficult circumstances, while its desire to see the blue sky and fly freely represents hope and the longing for renewal. The poem also highlights how something old or damaged can be overlooked even when it silently needs care and attention. In a practical sense, the imagery can be compared to the importance of caring for real trees: professional tree trimming service can remove damaged, overgrown, or tangled branches, improve a tree's structure, and support healthier growth. Just as the willow in the poem yearns to be free from its tangled branches, proper tree maintenance can help real trees remain healthy, safe, and beautiful.
