It should be soft enough to slice open with a wooden spoon; to mash the avocado: a wooden fork should work–rake into it, stab it... it's a slow process, but eventually, it gains a cream-like consistency.
By placing something like a tissue, napkin, paper towel, or handkerchief in-between the opening of the bottle and the lid, the liquid in the bottle can be poured out, leaving that which is not liquid in the bottle
