I'm sorry it's like this
Ignorance is a salve-
Pink jello in the cranial mass
tied up with ribbons
and children's shows.
I'd rather eat sunshine
with daddy and mummy
than be left to brood-
Philosophical.
Poised.
Oh-so-deep.
I don't want your cigarette mystique-
all tongue-tied with taxes
and pierced by social wars.
I'd rather have the tattoo ink
bleed out from my skin
in a rubber duck bathtub.
I want to be clean
I want to be oh, so clean.
Bring me my birthday cake
and an earnest smile
and we can wander pumpkin patches
for the rest of our delusional days.
(I'm sorry it's like this.)

I'm still learning how to interpret poetry, so forgive me if I'm way off the mark.
To me, it speaks of wanting freedom from ignorance, a sense of cleanliness. A break from delusion.
And I too am sorry it's like this. I don't know how it got this way. I look at birds and I think they've got it figured out more than we do. They take only exactly what they need and live freely.
I once had a tiny bird randomly perch on my shoulder, and I felt as a tree. I felt my purpose in that moment was just to be for this one little bird, and it felt symbiotic. It felt natural. It was fleeting, it was beautiful.
When did we fall out of sync with nature? When did we start feeling the need to control everything, to own the Earth? Life is not meant to be toxic competition, it's meant to be collaboration and cooperation with consideration for the self and other.
Sorry, your poem kind of sparked something in me. I really enjoyed the read, it was rich and varied.
