How to Make Someone Feel Special

“You don’t need to shower people with compliments to make them feel special. After all, what you do is equally important as what you say.

Listen Intently During A Conversation

The quality of your relationships will skyrocket if you listen to others. Because when you carefully listen to what people say, it shows you care. And obviously, other people will be more likely to reciprocate.

So, if you want to improve the quality of your conversations, consider asking some open-ended questions. For example:

What’s your story?

What book had the greatest impact on your life?

What would you do differently if you could restart your life?

Support Their Dreams

If you want to make someone feel special, encourage them. Help them to make progress. And, slowly but surely, they’ll feel motivated to succeed.

Celebrate small wins with loved ones. Be happy when they have little victories. And smile as they make continuous steps towards a final destination — a better future.

Give Them Your Undivided Attention

Don’t look at your phone if you want to make someone feel special (and respected) during a conversation. It’s rude. Looking at your phone can also come across as impolite, as you’re not giving the other person your undivided attention.

Be present. During every conversation, make eye contact to show you’re listening. Avoid the urge to interrupt. And unless it’s an absolute emergency, put your phone away — preferably out of sight.”
