Write a Letter to Yourself: 7 Cups Style
As the year winds down and we start looking towards the fresh possibilities of 2024, I've been thinking about the power of intention. What if, before we dive into resolutions and to-do lists, we take a moment to pause and connect with ourselves?
That's where the idea of writing a letter to your future self comes in. You may have done this before at some point in your life. It's a simple yet profound concept: writing a letter to your future self is a way to capture your hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the future. It allows you to reflect on your goals and priorities and provides a concrete reminder of what you want to achieve. It's like sending a message to your future self, reminding you of what matters most and providing inspiration and motivation to keep going. It's a powerful way to stay on track and hold yourself accountable.
It can also just be fun and lighthearted too! Your letter is what you make of it. The key is that you write something you'll find value in rereading later.
This isn't about fortune-telling or setting expectations. It's a chance to acknowledge your journey so far and plant seeds for the future you want to cultivate. When you revisit your letter, you might be surprised by how much you've grown and changed. You might find strength in your past words and clarity in your future aspirations.
Here are some prompts if you need ideas on where to start:
✨What are you most grateful for right now?
✨What are your biggest challenges or worries?
✨What dreams do you want to keep burning brightly?
✨What advice would you give your future self?
✨How do you want to feel on December 27th, 2024?
Now here's the special part: You'll submit your letter via this form. I'll store your letter securely and send it back to you on a date of your choosing.
There's no due date for this. Write whatever whenever and most importantly don't overthink it!
Please reply to this post when you’ve written your letter! Feel free to share excerpts from your letters (anonymously, of course!) if you're comfortable for our community to enjoy and find common themes!
Thank you for this, H.
Just a bit from my letter:
With time, the pain has lessened. The best metaphor that I've heard is that pain is like a button inside of a room and there's a ball in the room. At first, the ball is large and hits the button constantly. With time and work, the ball gets smaller. Of course, it will still hit the button, just not as often. And god, will it ******* hurt just like it happened yesterday but it's less and less often.
today next year. to be sent.

Slow,
- Remember to keep an eye on what's going on abroad & in your own life. You are mortal like everyone else, so you are not invulnerable even if you wish you were...this world is often a dangerous place, just as it always has been & will be until life doesn't exist on the planet anymore. Try to maintain situational awareness always. You will never totally achieve that as you're only human & energy-challenged (you already know the reasons for that), so don't blame yourself for not achieving 100% success. It is an ideal, not a goal. You know that ideals only exist in the human mind & never in the real, physical world...in the world there are only humans & other organisms in their environments, some of which are inherently hostile. It has always been so. Prepare accordingly & know it is a task that never ends.
- Hold to your creative path, keep walking & follow it wherever it takes you. As you know, this the closest you will ever come to religious faith of any kind. You know too much about how the world works to believe & trust in a 3O* god. So don't worry about the rest of it. Others will keep believing in their doctrines & dogmas. Let them. You know you can't talk them out of it; maintain your silence & don't even try. Ambrose Bierce's advice is best here: "Treat all things religious with marked respect, then have nothing more to do with them."
- It may not be worth staying in your current apartment anymore, so prepare for the possibility of losing it. If you lose it then wherever you are, stay calm, quiet & observant. That's the best attitude for most situations, actually... See if you can acquire a little piece of land. Maybe you can, maybe you can't. If you can & you get it, then you have a home, even if home is nothing more than a place to pitch a tent.
- Whatever happens, remember that you're still smarter than the average. You always have been, & will be for as long as your brain keeps functioning.
- Remember that power & the desire to gain & keep it are what makes people, groups & nations do what they do. It has always been so, it always will be & is one of the few things which will never change in this life.
*3O = an acronym for Omniscient, Omipotent, & Omnibenevolent. They are traits that members of the major monotheistic religions claim are inherent to their deity.

Hey, waiting for my letter to get delivered to me 😍✉️🙈
Haven't received it yet!! ð¥º
@Heather225
Based on my conversations with listeners today, if I wrote a letter to myself in the 7cups style, I'd get banned for violating the TOS.
@generousSailboat3674
I'm so sorry to hear you had such unfortunate experiences with listeners today. If you'd like to report these incidents, please PM me and I'll guide you on this. I know despite that, there are some very good listeners out there, and I may also be able to help you find one too. I hope your day improves.
@Heather225
You block negative reviews and then kick me off for trying too many listeners when I do that. No,
@Heather225 I loooooove this idea
@sunsetparadise16
thanks! i hope you decide to write something up!
@Heather225 I will soon!
