What do you wish there was more awareness for?
There are so many things we go through in life, yet sometimes it can feel like we don't have much of a space for speaking about it or for it being acknowledged. However, we have special events on 7 Cups which encourages more awareness and discussion on various topics!
So what would you like more awareness for?
I would like more awareness on how people interact and treat others. I'll be more specific such as two friends who are sitting at a table or somewhere else and one friend is trying to have a indepth conversation with the other friend to connect while the other one is constantly on their phone texting or replying back to someone on social media. No one realises how lonely and frustrating that feels for the other person. There's little awareness that it's not right to do that to another person. There's no respect for others. It makes me question what's the whole point of being with someone if all they do is be on their phone talking to someone else barely showing any eye contact? It shows a lack of interest with being someone else. I would be okay if it's the employer or parents or maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend contacting them because that's completely understandable. But what's the problem with just turning off data/wifi off just for a couple of hours? It's not going to kill you. Seriously what is going on with this world? We fail to acknowledge each other. We're so addicted to our phones that we fail to see what's out there in real life and what's in front of us? Treat others how you want to be treated otherwise we'll be forever trapped in a silent isolating world. It's really scary how close we're getting there...
@thoughtfulLychee9280 oh my gosh i totally agree about the internet thing! people are so locked onto their electronics that they fail to see how beautiful life really is, in so many little ways.
@lavawolf44
Aww I'm so glad to hear that! Yeah people really do fail to appreciate the outside world which is really sad because how you can create memorable moments in your life if you're stuck staring at a screen that can be seen at any time compared to the life in our eyes? Time is valuable and short. Things like life and time are taken advantage and its not till its too late that we discover what we have lost. Sorry I just feel so strongly about this phone addiction. That a depressed person is not a "sad, having a couple bad days" person. That it's not necessary to know WHY a person is depressed because it can happen to have no real reason or too many reasons that are mostly unexplainable. That a depressed person is not a sensitive loser trying to get attention.
How schools are blind to students who have mental health issues, but only start to pay attention to them when something risky happens.
