The journey with reading
Hello everyone!
Please feel free to share your thoughts on this as I am sharing my own.
My relationship with reading almost feels like a love / hate relationship. There are ups and there are downs, it almost feels like we're in this journey together but there is no end in sight. But yet my relationship with books is one of my longest yet, I have grown up reading. I have read what I like, what has peaked my interest and sometimes read what I was not particularly interested in. Yet, when I am apart from reading I feel alone. I feel like something is missing from me as a whole. I feel longing.
One of the most precious moments I look back on are the moments I yearn for a book in my hands, and realising we are not meant to be apart. I will forever be grateful for all the books that have kept me company, when I was doing my worst, when I needed a moment to escape and when I needed it the most.
@Daliah473 Hi, thanks for sharing- I also love reading, but feel like it comes and goes in phases as a hobby in my life, so I can relate to what you're saying! I also know another user on 7 Cups recently posted about having a love/hate relationship with writing, especially when they feel they don't have people to talk about it with- I can check to make sure it's okay with them as well, but maybe you two could connect and share some of your common interests/ ideas, because it sounds to me like you both could understand each other well! :)

Hello! Thank you for your reply, I absolutely agree with what you're saying. It almost feels like we're taking it for granted.
And that sounds lovely! I would love to talk.
@Daliah473 Of course, and if you'd like you're always welcome to message me! :)
I do have to apologize though, the other user I had in mind is a teen member, so unless I'm mistaken, I don't think you'll be able to message them 1:1. However, their post is in the Reading & Writing forum, so you may be able to find it there! Sorry again, I'm new to the community pages here on 7 Cups.
@Daliah473 I agree with this, I have days where I want to read and then others where I avoid it like the plague simply because I get tired of using my mind. With work and school, reading becomes a hobby that isn't so enjoyable. However, I can't take too many days away because I do start to miss it. I've learned to pace myself and try not to read things that are very serious. Lately, I've gotten back into my science fiction but I haven't been trying to force a lot down my throat all at once.
@sonnieeee
I have been having such a simialr experience recently. During my time at university I found myself usually busy with academics or my social circle. But now that I am back home without the usual things that kept me busy, I am having to slowly ease my way back into my hobbies. Almost feeling worried I will scare myself away if I take things too fast.
@Daliah473 I wouldn't have fear, I would just indulge because reading is a comfortable hobby. Just read things for entertainment, journal and join a book club lol - at least that's what I do.
