What books have you finished reading that left a permanent impression on you?

Hey all,

As someone who loves reading (and would love to do more of it), there's been a handful of occasions where, when I've finished a book, I get an instant feeling that it's going to be with me for the rest of my life.

One that immediately comes to mind that way is a book called The Four Agreements. In this book, based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the author encourages the reader to: Be impeccable with your word, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, and to always do your best.

Extrapolated, he's basically, saying that what we say (and don't say) really does matter. And that there really isn't anything productive about taking things personally or making assumptions. The latter is self-explanatory, but with the caveat that our best is subject to change, and that we need to have self-compassion for ourselves in this case.

At any rate, that book legit changed my life and I still go back to it from time to time.

So yeah, have any books hit y'all in that sort of vein?

Yes, one of the books that has really remained with me is called Into the Wild. It is a sad story, but sort of inspiring at the same time.
