For Writing Purposes - Can you burn a knife?
In a short story I’m writing the main character sets out to k1ll her abusive father, and their house is super secure (from the father not wanting them to escape and tell the police) but I was wondering if you could burn a kitchen knife, or atleast if you did would it get fingerprint marks off? (As they don’t have any gloves)
@yourmidastouchonthechevydoor It's an interesting question. Fingerprints are mostly made of oil. Oil will burn if the temperature is hot enough, but I think it could be possible to used the burned remains as well, although not ideal.
Washng it with any soap/detergent would an easier way. Some fire accelerants/fuels can mix with oil. Pouring gasoling on a knife would probably do more to the fingerprints than burning.
I have zilch fingerprinting experience.
