Hello just before you read if you're sensitive to death/implied death this isn't for you ty for reading if you are ok with this :)

Bramblekit walked out of the nursery. He glanced up at the sky. It was a beautiful sunny day with some clouds. "Starclan must have something planned". He thought to himself with a slight nod. He padded over gently to the warrior den to see if his father, Echosong, was awake. He peaked his head into the Den his father lay in and glanced around. "Hello, Bramblekit. what brings you here?" The newly made warrior, Mudfoot, lay in his bed of moss. He looked at Mudfoot, who was only seven moons. He was a decently large brown tabby cat with black stripes along his pelt with large muscles making him have a strong appearance at a young age. His den mates were still around his age though he was given his warrior name due to his indefinite strength. The only thing he was lacking was his stamina. Bramblekit gazed up at the tabby with slight fear and muttered, "I-I'm looking to see if my father is awake." He stuttered. The large tabby smiled softly at the kit."He's out hunting for fresh prey. I suggest you get back to your mother before she begins to worry.".Bramblekit nodded as he strolled off to his mother. "Bramblekit?" Mudclaw called. "Before you go, tell your mother I wish her luck with her new litter soon." Bramblekits eyes lit up. He was always excited at the thought of a new brother. Or maybe even a sister or both. He flicked his tail to show he had heard the large tabby and ran off to the nursery. He jumped into the nursery where his mother was waiting. "Looking for your father again, little one?" Cloudheart purred gently. Bramblekit nodded as he gazed up at his mother. His mother had a beautiful brown pelt with black markings with two gleaming green eyes. A slightly bulging stomach was present as well. Bramblekit gazed down at her stomach with an amazed and excited look."Hello, Bramblekit." Bramblekit turned his head to see his father, Echosong, standing at the entry to the nursery. His eyes lit up as he saw his father and dashed over to him. Echosong gave him a gentle lick to the ear and laid down. "Bramblekit, tomorrow is the day you get to be an apprentice. I expect you to work hard and follow your mentor," Echosong said with a stern tone in his voice. The sternness in his father's voice gave him an uneasy and scared feeling. Cloudheart padded over and gave Bramblekit a gentle lick. "There's no need to be a frightened young one.". She spoke with a soft tone to calm her kit. Bramblekit let out a small purr knowing he was excited for this day to be here. "Aderclan cats!!". A frightened cat yowled. Echsong stood up fast with a glow he changed into his metallic battle form. He raced out of the nursery and ran towards the yowls of frightened cats. Firestorm Sunclans's deputy was hissing at the intruders. Cloudheart let out a whine. "Bramblekit...go fetch Riverstream now!" she said in a panicky tone. Bramblekit ran towards the medicine cat's Den to bring her to his mother."Bramblekit! Are you injured?" Riverstream said in a panicked tone. "No, it's my mother who asked for you-" he was cut off by the yowl of their leader Goldenstar. "Every cat that's unable to battle, please get away from the camp!" Bramblekit ran to his mother, who was in pain."Where's Riverstream?" She said as she lay down. "I think your siblings are coming." Bramblekit didn't know what to do. "We have orders to evacuate you need to get up!" His mother stood up slowly with the help of her kit. Stormpaw ran into the nursery. Looking back on where he came from. "I'll help the queens Firestorm!" He began to nudge Cloudheart out of the camp with help from Bramblekit. They were near the Duskclan border. She was unable to walk another step. "I think shes having my siblings.".Bramblekit looked up to Stormpaw in dismay. The grey tom cat looked afraid. "I can try to get Silverstream. Stay here and help your mother." He ran off to help the elders out of their dens. Echsong was gravely injured, limping with a few scratches around his muzzle. "I have a plan." he yelled to a few cats. "It's dangerous so I will carry it out, please help me get them all in one place." The other cats nodded. They swiped their paws at the Aderclan cats. Echsong clawed at a few and swung his tail with a smug look at them. Echsong began to run towards a cliff with the cats chasing. He ducked past them and nudged the one behind them, causing them to fall off. He looked over the edge at the cats falling. Suddenly the deputy of Aderclan, Bluestripe, had nudged him hard. Echosong had been thrown off, along with the Aderclan cats. The last one smirked as Bramblekit watched him fall with the others. After a bit of struggle, the metal cat accepted his fate and closed his eyes, waiting for the fall to be over. The young kit ran to the side of the cliff. He saw what remained of his father staring in agony as he would never feel the comforting licks of his parents. After the panic, the cats calmed down. Frostpaw walked over to Cloudheart. Laying with no movement. He spotted Bramblekit and a small kit in his jaws next to their mother.

Bramblestripe groaned as he got to his paws he shook his head with a sigh. "Just a dream of that day. It's already over."

Hi chapter 2 is here

Bramblestripe began padding over to the apprentice's den. "Checking up on Cloudpaw?" He turned to face Stormfur, a timid but fast warrior. He was excellent at getting help and alerting the other warriors, but his fighting skills were lacking slightly. "Yes but every day I'm worried that someone will tell her the truth." Bramblestripe began. "And I don't want her to learn till she's older." Stormfur sighed. "Have you still been having the same dream?" Bramblestripe nodded in response. "Maybe you should ask Silverstream!" Stormfur said with a purr. He had a crush on Silverstream, the clan's medicine cat Silverstream. She knew about it as well.

Bramblestripe nodded and walked over to the medicine cat's den. "Hello, Bramblestripe." Silverstream purred. "Hello, I've come to ask you something about a reoccurring dream I've been having...Well, more of a flashback of sorts." Bramblestripe said. Unsure of himself. "A reoccurring dream?" She expressed. "About what?". Bramblestripe sighed his tail lower with his head down. "The day that Aderclan attacked us and.." Silverstream gave him a comforting lick. "You don't have to say any more it's know what happened that day." Bramblestripe raised his head to face her. "At the end i'm always holding or with Cloudpaw." He began. "Is this a sign I should tell her what really happened?"

Silverstream was silent for a few heartbeats. "Well, you did tell her some truth didn't you?" Bramblestripe looked away slightly. "I told her that she passed of greencough." Silverstream nodded. "It might be time to tell her the truth Bramblestripe, we can't hide the secret any longer. She might be told the truth on accident." Bramblestripe nodded as he knew better than to question her. She and Goldenstar were the ones who were closest to Starclan. He nodded as he began to pad out of the den. "Thank you Silverstream, hopefully this clears my head."

Chapter 3!!!

This is mostly ships lol every paragraph is another ship so feel free to give ship names if you'd like

@NatalieLovesYou52 @JamieOrJayson @TheCrew4887 @JefferyThebunny319 @CommunityModEver

Bramblestripe sighed, knowing that it would be hard to tell Cloudpaw what happened to their parents Bramblestripe sat in the center of the camp, looking around.

Frostpelt walked over to the fresh-kill pile. He grasped a rabbit between his jaws and strolled over to Mudfoots. He dropped the rabbit at Mudfoots paws. Mudfoot purred in response and touched noses with Frostpelt. In return, Frostpelt placed his head on the large tabby's back. Mudfoot glanced at him with no regard for disturbing the now-resting cat. Mudfoot kept still as Frostpelt moved around slightly and began to yowl in his sleep. Mudfoot began to lick his ears to try to soothe the snow-furred cat. Frostpelt started to calm down and sleep peacefully. Mudfoot laid his head in his paws and drifted off to sleep.

Goldenstar lay to rest in his den. He was beginning to eat a freshly caught vole in between his paws. "Hey, Goldie enjoying fresh kill?" Firestorm said with an amused purr. Goldenstar rolled his eyes in response. "I thought I told you to quit calling me Goldie, Firestorm." Firestorm padded over to his leader and sat next to him, and began to groom his matted fur. A smirk came across his face as he took a bite of the vole Goldenstar was eating. Goldenstar gave him an irritated but still affectionate look. Firestorm let out another entertained purr in response to the gaze his leader gave him. "Want me to fetch you some more? My God my leader my-" Firestorm was cut off by Goldenstar pouncing onto him playfully. "Not if you're just going to keep eating it." He purred. Firestorm gave a soft smile to his leader as they began to play fight as if they were kits.

Stormfur was looking left and right at border patrol. He was separated from the group to renew the scent markers. His ears twitched as he heard rustling from the other side of the river. He leaned down, ready to pounce. Although his body was shaking and his fear scent was strong, he still would try. A sleek she-cat came from the rustling. Huh, who is she? Stormfur thought. The cat purred in amusement. "You're fear scent is strong. Scared of me?" She said mischievously. "I'm Poisionfang, from Duskclan" She declared. "And may I ask who you are?" Stormfur began to relax a bit. "Um. I'm stormfur of Sunclan." he said nervously. "A-And this is my territory g-go home." Posionfang jumped across the river next to him and began to groom his fur with her rough tongue. Stormfur felt a jolt he only felt around Riverstream. Had he been getting a crush on a cat from a different clan? He jumped back away from the intruder. "Nervous? It's just love don't worry." She said as she touched her nose with Stormfurs. He let out a comforting purr at the touch. She seems friendly maybe I should trust her. His tail swung as she gave him a lick on the ears.

Chapter 4

Stormfur ran back to camp to find Bramblestripe. He kept running until he bumped into him. "Stormfur, why are you running?" Bramblestripe spoke with an upset tone. "I think I'm in love, Bramblestripe." Stormfur had an excited look on his face. "With Riverstream, we all know." Bramblestripe sighed as he began to turn away. "Not with her Bramblestripe with Poisonfang!" Bramblestripe stopped dead in his tracks while his blood ran cold. "Stormfur.." He spoke softly. "Who is that" Stormfur padded to his side proudly. "Only the most beautiful she-cat from Duskclan."

Bramblestripe was silent for a few heartbeats. "Stormfur, you can't be seeing a cat from Duskclan!" he yelled. Stormfur looked hurt by those words. "Well, nobody has to know right," He said sheepishly. "Know about what?" Firestorm said in his usual stern tone. "Stormfur here was telling me a kits tale on how he saw a mouse the size of a fox," Bramblestripe said, trying to clear the suspicion from the deputy. In response, Firestorm rolled his eyes slightly. "Comming from Stormfur if he saw that he would've ran faster than you can say mouse." He padded away back to Goldenstars den. Stormfur sighed in relief. "You didn't have to do that Bramblestripe." Bramblestripe gave him a lick on the ears. "I didn't want you to get in trouble with Firestorm, you know how he is." Stormfur let out an amused purr at his friend. "Tell me how did you meet Poisonfang?" Stormfur looked at him with bright eyes telling his friend how he met Poisonfang.

Bramblestripe gave him a concerned look. "You're sure you love her right?" Stormfur nodded and took another bite of the squirrel he was eating. Mudfoot and Frostpelt came into the warrior's den with rabbits in their jaws. They settled down next to each other to eat. Bramblestripe looked at Stormfur. "We'll discuss this later Stormfur right now we can't with Frostpelt and Mudfoot here." He spoke softly at the lovestruck cat.

Chapter 5 of a Lie for a Lie: The truth

Bramblestripe sat in his bed licking his paws. "Isn't it almost time for Cloudpaw's naming ceremony?" Frostpelt asked. Bramblestripe looked up and nodded. "Yeah, it's exciting Cloudpaw is finally going be a warrior." Frostpelt smiled softly. "Where is she now?" Bramblestripe asked. "She's listening to the elder's stories," Frostpelt replied.

Mudfoot ran into the warrior's den in a panic. "Bramblestripe, did you ever tell Cloudpaw how your parents passed?" Bramblestripe looked confused. "No, I never did. Why do you ask?" Mudfoots eyes grew wider. "Noeyes is telling her the real story." Bramblestripe rose to his paws and began to run toward the elder's den. "After the Aderclan warrior pushed Echosong into the ravine, we found your brother with you in his jaws," Noeyes informed Cloudpaw. Bramblestripe glanced over at Cloudpaw. Cloudpaw sat there staring in disbelief. "But, Bramblestripe said they both passed away of greencough," Cloudpaw said, trying to make sense of all the new information she had heard.

Bramblestripe gave Cloudpaw a lick on the head. "I didn't want you to know until you were older." He admitted. Cloudpaw looked heartbroken and got to her paws. "Wait!" Bramblestripe yelled out. "Your warrior ceremony is soon. Do you want to talk to Goldenstar about it?" Cloudpaw scowled at him and ran out of the den. "Wait, Cloudpaw," called Bramblestripe. Mudfoot stood next to Bramblestripe. "Let her go Bramblestripe. Cloudpaw needs to cool down." Bramblestripe sighed and looked towards the forest where Cloudpaw ran. "Maybe she'll bring some fresh kill back." Frostpelt assumed. Mudfoot gave him a lick on the forehead, and Frostpelt let out a purr in response. Bramblestripe smiled softly at them and padded back to the warrior's den, waiting for his sister to return.

Chapter 6

Bramblestripe paced across the camp, anxiously waiting for Cloudpaw to return. After what felt like a thousand moons had passed, Cloudpaw returned with a few mice hanging from her jaws. "Cloudpaw, you're back!" Bramblestripe purred happily. Cloudpaw shot him an angry look and walked to the fresh kill pile. "Is there any more in the forest? I can help you bring them back." Bramblestripe asked. Cloudpaw kept ignoring him and placed the mice on the pile.

Firestorm walked over to Cloudpaw with a deep look, then looked up to Bramblestripe, "Isn't it about time she became a warrior?" he asked sternly while remaining calm. Cloudpaw rolled her eyes and walked off to the apprentices' den. Bramblestripe felt his heart sink as if he had failed his sister by lying to her. Firestorm scoffed at Bramblestripe, "Can you not handle your apprentice anymore?" Bramblestripe glared at the deputy, "Scar'eyes told her about our parents," he said with pain in his voice. Firestorm's amber eyes grew wide. "I'm sorry that she isn't taking it well," Firestorm spoke compassionately. "But we need new warriors. I will tell Goldenstar of her progress." He walked over to Goldenstar's den. Bramblestripe watched for a few heartbeats, then walked into the nursery den to look for Windsong.

"Windsong?" he called out, "May I speak with you?" Windsong was on her side with a litter of three kits. "What can I do for you, Bramblestripe?" she said with a purr. "It's about Cloudpaw." he sighed. "She found out that you aren't really her mother," his heart ached thinking about what happened, "You don't have to tell me anymore." She spoke in a calm and loving tone. Bramblestripe sat next to the queen. "What are the names of your kits?" he asked excitedly. Windsong smiled, "These are Leafkit, Maplekit, and Twigkit." Bramblestripe purred at the sight of the little kits barely a moon old. "They're beautiful," he expressed in amazement. "I hope they become strong warriors like you." Windsong mewed. "What should I do about Cloudpaw?" The queen looked at him with a mrrow of laughter. "Why would you ask me? You know her best, but she will warm up eventually; she needs time." Bramblestripe gave her a nod and walked out of the nursery, thanking the queen.

Cloudpaw lay in the apprentice's den with an annoyed look. Acornpaw walked over, "Are you alright, Cloudpaw?" He asked with a nervous tone. "Have you been in another fight? Shall I get Riverstream?" He said, beginning to panic. Cloudpaw sighed, "No, I haven't been in another fight." she said, slightly annoyed. Acornpaw purred and pressed his muzzle against her side. "Aren't we going to become warriors soon?" Cloudpaw sighed and smiled at Acornpaw. "Yeah, I guess we are. Should we ask our mentors about it?" she suggested. Acornpaw nodded and walked out of the apprentice's den.

Acornpaw padded around the camp, looking for his mentor, Stormpelt. He walked over to Bramblestripe and asked. "Have you seen Stormpelt?" Bramblestripe shook his head. Acornpaw sighed and walked away. Bramblestripe walked into the forest to the Adderclan border and saw Stormpelt and Poisonfang talking. He hid in a bush, waiting for Stormpelt to come back. After what felt like a hundred moons, he turned around and began padding back to the camp. Bramblestripe came out from the bush, "Acornpaw's look for you." Stormpelt jumped with a light hiss, "Alright, I'll talk to him, but I have amazing news to share." He said with his tail swaying side to side. "What is it?" Bramblestripe asked, "Poisonfang is having my kits!" Stormpelt exclaimed. Bramblestripe quickly quieted him. "You can't have kits with a Duskclan cat! That's against the warrior code." He exclaimed. Stormpelt went quiet for a few heartbeats. "I know, but she's an amazing cat."

Chapter 7: Fights
This chapter has death in it so be aware of this

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock to hear what I have to say!" Yowled Goldenstar. The cats began to come out from the dens and sat below the Highrock. Acornpaw, Cloudpaw, Yellowpaw, and Aspenpaw were trying to keep still. "Today, we are here for the warrior ceremony of many apprentices. These are, Acornpaw, Cloudpaw, Yellowpaw, and Aspenpaw." Each of the apprentices' eyes glowed as Goldenstar looked down on them. "I, Goldenstar leader of Sunclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Cloudpaw, Acornpaw, Yellowpaw, and Aspenpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" They each nodded.

Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: Cloudpaw. From this moment on, you will be known as Cloudwatcher, Acornpaw. from this moment on, you will be known as Acornbelly, Yellowpaw, and from this moment on, you will be known as Yellowstream. And Aspenpaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Aspenshade. StarClan honors your fighting abilities, bravery, and loyalty, and we welcome you as a warrior of Sunclan. Each of the new warriors gave Goldenstar a lick on the shoulder. "These four brave warriors will sit vigil tonight and protect the clan," Goldenstar announced. "Yellowstream! Aspenshade! Cloudwatcher! Acornbelly!" The clan cats cheered for their new warriors.

Aspenshade and Yellowstream yowled in triumph at their names. Yellowstream looked at his brother with pride. "We're finally warriors!" he said, pressing his nose into his brother's cheek. Aspenshade purred at his brother's touch. "We can finally sleep in the warriors' den!" Aspenshade meowed. Yellowstream stretched and ran off to the warriors' den. Aspenshade rolled his eyes at his brother, "Not everything is a race, Yellowstream." He said loud enough for him to hear.

Bramblestipe padded over to Cloudwatcher and pressed noses with her. "I can't believe you're finally a warrior, Cloudwatcher." Cloudwatcher glared at him and walked off to find Aspenshade and his brother. Bramblestripe sighed, "Will she ever forgive me?" he asked himself, "Just give her time, Bramblestripe." Goldenstar said, glancing over at him. Bramblestripe ran over to Cloudwatcher, "Please, just talk to me. Tell me what's wrong." He pleaded. The fur on Cloudwatcher's back began to rise. "Please tell me." He asked again. "You really want to know?" She asked and received a nod from her brother. "You lied to me my entire life about our parents, and you expect me to be fine when I'm told what happened?" She asked with rage in her voice. Bramblestripes eyes grew wide. He had never seen this side of his sister before, the side that was loud and yelling at him. "And then you try to make things right by trying to talk with me as if it wasn't the most mouse-brained idea in the forest!" she yelled. "Just leave me alone!"

Cloudwatcher ran off threw the forest. Bramblestripe ran inside the warriors' den, "Aspenshade, please run after her with me fast!" Aspenshade nodded and ran after Cloudwatcher as fast as their legs could run. "She's going to run into the Thunderpath at this rate," Aspenshade informed Bramblestripe, worried. Cloudwatcher reached the edge of the forest. She hesitated for a heartbeat, only looking back to see her brother and Aspenshade.

Cloudwatcher ran into the Thunderpath without looking. "No!" Yelled Aspenshade as he ran into the path, swerving in front of the white cat and shoving her out of the way with her head. He panted slightly and stood still. "Aspenshade, look out!" Bramblestripe yelled, but it was too late as a monster hit him and ran off. Bramblestripe ran into the path and dragged Aspenshades limp body into the forest. "Aspenshade, no..." Bramblestripe said, stifling a whine. "He's just knocked out, right?" Cloudpaw tried to convince herself. "He can't be dead!" she yelled, "He was just made a warrior." Bramblestripe saw the pain in his sister's eyes as she looked down at her den mate and whined. Bramblestripe lay next to Aspenshade's body, with his sister giving her a comforting lick. "I killed him." She said, her eyes still looking down. "If I didn't run into the Thunderpath, he would still be alive." She said with grief.

Chapter 8: Grief

Bramblestripe walked into the camp dragging along Aspenshade, scared of what Yellowstream would think. Cloudwatcher looked ahead, her eyes filled with grief and pain. Bramblestripe placed the cat's limp body down by the Highrock. Yellowstream ran over fast, his fear scent strong, "What happened to Aspenshade?!" she hissed at Bramblestripe and Cloudwatcher. Cloudwatcher shrunk down, scared. Bramblestripe unsheathed his claws and sunk into the earth, "Don't scold Cloudwatcher it wasn't her fault." he said sternly. "Then what happened?" Yellowstream demanded.

"What's going on here?" Bramblestripe turned to face Goldenstar, staring at all three of them. Yellowstream curled his lip, "My brother is lying there dead, and I want to know what happened." he hissed at Goldenstar. The leader looked unphased and turned his head to look at Bramblestripe, "What happened?" he asked calmly, "He was hit by a monster." he said with his head down. Yellowstreams eyes flooded with grief. "It was my fault!" Cloudwatcher yowled, "If I had watched where I was going, he would still be here!" she said while looking down. "It wasn't your fault Cloudwatcher."

Bramblestripe said, trying to calm his sister. Yellowstream looked up at Cloudwatcher and Bramblestripep. His fur bristled with anger. "A weak apology isn't going to bring my brother back!" He yowled, his claws unsheathed. Cloudwatcher backed away in fear of his tinted claws as Yellowstream jumped onto her hissing loudly and slashing at Cloudwatcher.

Cloudwatcher ducked, only having a cut on her ear as she winced with pain. "Enough!" shouted Goldenstar. Yellowstream didn't listen and gave Cloudwatcher a slash above her eye, letting blood trickle into her eye. Cloudwatcher let out a screech of pain. "That's enough!" Goldenstar yelled, standing in front of Cloudwatcher. "What part of the warrior code says that it's alright to harm your own clanmates?" He yelled. "But she-" Yellowstream was interrupted by Goldenstar, "Cloudwatcher told you what happened and you insist that she killed him with her own paws." Yellowstream looked down, "I'm sorry Cloudwatcher" she mumbled. Cloudwatcher didn't respond and looked at her brother with one eye. "Let's go to the medicine cats' den." Bramblestripe nodded and padded off to see Riverstream with his wounded sister.

This is a mini fanfic based off of Adrien's amazing story, a retelling of Chapter 7 but from Aspenshade's POV. Contains some violence and death.

...

I sat with my head held high as the warrior ritual happened, trying to keep a straight and calm face, despite the excitement coursing through my rough fur. Goldenstar listed off the name of the other cats, and when they got to me, I lifted my head a little higher.

“And Aspenpaw,” Goldenstar said, staring directly into my eyes. “You will be known as Aspenshade”

I resisted the urge to look at my twin, Yellowstream, trying to seem like the brave warrior I was being declared as.

“StarClan honors your fighting abilities, bravery, and loyalty, and we welcome you as a warrior of Sunclan.” Each of the four new warriors, including me, stepped up and gave a gentle lick on Goldenstar’s shoulder. “These four brave warriors will sit vigil tonight and protect the clan.” Goldenstar stood with their head high, shouting our new names one by one.

“Yellowstream! Aspenshade! Cloudwatcher! Acornbelly!” The surrounding cats cheered at the new warriors, and I felt a tang of pride. I had to make everyone proud.

I couldn’t hold in my excitement any longer- I turned to my twin brother, yowling happily. “We’re finally warriors!” Yellowstream shouted, pressing his nose against my cheek. I gave a soft purr at my brother’s touch, tail swishing slightly with joy.

“We can finally sleep in the warrior’s den!” I exclaimed, watching Yellowstream bound off to the warriors den. I rolled my eyes at my brother, always having been the more energetic one. “Not everything is a race, Yellowstream.” I followed my twin a bit, pondering everything that happened. We were finally old enough, finally warriors- this is what we had been looking forward to for so long. I glanced up at my brother a bit, watching his tail flick excitedly, smiling to myself. He had been waiting for this day for just as long. I decided to let him have his excitement, however energetic and hyper it may be.

“Aspenshade!”

I swiftly turned my head, ears perking up as I heard my name. I saw Bramblestripe facing me, with Cloudwatcher bounding off away from them. “Please run after her with me, fast!” Bramblestripe shouted, turning to run towards Cloudwatcher. I had no idea what was happening, or why Cloudwatcher was running, but I knew some tension between her and Bramblestripe has been building up lately. I bounded after them both, running as fast as my legs could carry me, catching up a bit to Bramblestripe. “She’s going to run into Thunderpath at this rate,” I shouted. Fear flickered in Bramblestripe’s eyes, remembering the large, dark path, where large metal monsters with circular wheels and bright lights would occasionally race past. I shook my head, knowing those horrid metal monsters have taken many lives in the past.

Cloudwatcher stopped, hesitating at the edge of the forest, glancing back at me and her brother. Without looking, she leaped into the Thunderpath. “No!” I yelled, leaping before I could even think. I swerved in front of the white cat, shoving her out of the way with my head, breathing heavily from the running.

“Aspenshade, look out!” Bramblestripe shouted, standing at the edge of the clearing with a shaken up Cloudwatcher. I looked quickly in front of me, suddenly feeling the heavy vibrations of the circular wheels and seeing the bright blinding lights. Fear spiked through me, my fur standing on end, frozen with fear at the sight of the metal monster racing towards me.

With no time to react, the metal monster made impact with me, and I rolled over the hard gravel, the breath knocked out of me. It raced past without a care as I fell onto my side, my body instantly going still, the pain nearly unbearable. The world around me swirled, hearing Bramblestripe run up to me- although his footsteps sounded faded and far away. Each breath a painful burden, my eyes fluttered closed, leaving me in darkness as I slowly lost consciousness, the last sounds I heard being Bramblestripe’s worried voice and Cloudwatcher’s silent crying.

Cloudwatcher and Bramblestripe padded into the medicine cat den to find Riverstream grabbing herbs frantically, "Riverstream are you okay?" Bramblestripe asked, his mew full of concern, "Firestorm and Goldenstar are fighting!" she yowled as Cloudwatcher's pelt bristled, "Fighting?!" she exclaimed, "For what reason?" she asked as Riverstream ran out the medicine cats den. Cloudwatcher and Bramblestripe were close behind Riverstream, "Cloudwatcher carry the herbs we have to stop the fight!" she hissed. All five cats ran toward the forest, stopping when they saw Goldenstar and Firestorm.

"Both of you stop fighting!" Riverstream yelled, trying to reason with them, "Stay out of this Riverstream." Firestorm meowed calmly, but his eyes told a different story. His eyes were full of fury, "I thought you were loyal Firestorm." Goldenstar mewed, his voice cracking with pain, "I thought..I thought I loved you." he finally choked out, "I thought I loved you but I guess you had your eyes on a different cat." Firestorm hissed, "A cat that has long since passed." he growled, "My love for her was many moons ago you're living in the past Firestorm." Goldenstar meowed, slightly confused, "I'm living in the past?" Firestorm hissed, his claws unsheathing.

"I should have been Sunclan's leader, not you!" Firestorm leaped onto Goldenstar, slashing him across the eye and muzzle, "You're a sorry excuse for a cat and barely a leader." Goldenstar took the hit and didn't move, "I'm not going to fight you Firestorm you have every right to be angry but this isn't going to help." he mewed sadly. Cloudwatcher hissed as she leaped onto Firestorm biting his back, and rolled around, getting on top of him. She snarled and bared her teeth at him. Goldenstar padded over, sitting next to both of them, "Firestorm, please we can settle this in camp we don't have to fight you."

Firestorm hissed, biting cloudwatcher leg hard so that she would let go. She jumped off him, startled as Firestorm leaped onto Goldenstar biting his neck as he fell on his sides and didn't move. Riverstream gasped in horror, "He's lost his 8th life." She said, shaking her head in fear. Cloudwatcher snarled and leaped onto Firestorm hissing. Firestorm slashed her face, leaving Cloudwatcher with a wound from her ear to her top lip. Cloudwatcher hissed with pain as she managed to leap onto Firestorm again, pinning him down and biting his neck, delivering the final blow. While she moved away from the body of the former deputy, "I'm sorry," she muttered to him.

Chapter 10

Cloudwatcher turned to face Goldenstar, supported by Bramblestripe, "We have to get you back to camp." Bramblestripe meowed, facing forward. Cloudwatcher walked next to Goldenstar, sustaining his balance by the shoulder on the other side. Bramblestripe did the same on the other side, "We can't risk him losing another life. What would the clan do without a leader and deputy?" Bramblestripe padded with Cloudwatcher back to camp, slightly limping. Bramblestripe glanced at the ground, seeing the red on the grass from both cats. Firestorm's lifeless body lay motionless, his eyes open and cloudy. He lifted his head, his gaze meeting Lightningfoot's excited face. He stared at him, confused, before Lightningfoot beckoned him with his tail. He looked to Riverstream, "I think I smell Adderclan I should go see what it is." he half lied. He knew of Lightningfoot and Poisonfang's forbidden relationship. Riverstream nodded and took Bramblestripe's place beside Goldenstar as they padded off into camp.
Bramblestripe padded over to Lightningfoot, who was tapping his paws on the ground more excited than ever, "Bramblestripe! You have to," he was cut short by Bramblestripe's hiss, "Goldenstar just lost his eighth life, and you're over here worrying about some fox-hearted Adderclan warrior!" he hissed again. Lightningfoot flinched, and his ears fell flat in fear, "Could you at least come to see the kits?" Lightningfoot asked quietly. Bramblestripe blinked a few times, shocked by what he said, "She had the kits?" he asked, interested in them. Lightningfoot trotted excitedly to the border, "It's one of the biggest litters I've ever seen!" he yowled excitedly before Bramblestripes hiss quieted him down. Once they reached the border, Poisonfang hissed at Lightningfoot, "What is he doing here did he come to get rid of me?!" she accused. Lightningfoot flinched, "No nothing like that he knows about us and is supportive!" he purred before leaping over the river to sit by his mate. She looked down at the five young kits mewling at their father. Bramblestripe looked shocked, "Five of them?" he asked. Poisonfang nodded, "Yep all for Sunclan." She sneered. Both the toms stared at her as she stood and turned around, "Wait Poisonfang! I can't take them!" Lightnignfoot gasped. Poisonfang turned to face him, "Well neither can I so deal with this!" she hissed.
Lightningfoot growled at her, "Were you just using me to get me in trouble?!" he asked, tears welling up in his eyes. Poisonfang laughed a bit, "Now your getting somewhere frog-brain." she laughed as Lightningfoot began to tear up and hiss before leaping at her. Poisonfang quickly swept the kits behind her, jumping onto Lightningfoot and slamming him into the river, submerging his flailing body into the river. Bramblestripe jumped in onto Poisonfang, knocking her off Lightningfoot and diving his head in, swimming towards Lightningfoot, grabbing him by the scruff, and slowly pulling him to the surface. Light from above grew brighter, his water-logged pelt pulling him down. He kept swimming up before reaching the surface and placing his body onto the forest ground. Poisonfang hissed and padded back to Adderclan, "Have fun raising five kits on your own." she teased and kept walking.
Bramblestripe ignored the she-cat and swam out of the river to see if Lightningfoot was okay. He placed his paws on the cat's back and rubbed hard as he coughed up some water. Lightningfoot gasped for air a bit before glancing back at the mewling kits. He sighed and shook his pelt, water flinging everywhere. He looked down at his kits, "What am I going to say to Goldenstar?" Lightningfoot asked Bramblestripe, his mew full of fear. Bramblestripe placed his tail tip on Lightningfoot's wet shoulder, "I'm sure he'll be understanding." he purred. Lightningfoot nodded and grabbed a kit, "Can you help me get them to the camp?" he asked Bramblestripe. He nodded and then grabbed another kit. He signaled with his tail for the others to follow.
When they reached the camp, Goldenstar and Cloudwatcher were in the medicine cat's den, with Riverstream and Cloudwatcher looking shocked at Goldenstar, who looked timid and ashamed. Bramblestrirpe placed the kit down next to Lightningfoot, "I'll be back." he told him as he trotted to the medicine cat's den. He peaked inside, "What's wrong is it serious?" He asked, looking at Goldenstar and then Riverstream. Riverstream turned to face him, "Goldenstar is having Firestorm's kits." She began, "He's a she-cat!"

tw for transphobia (only first chapter tho u can just skip it)

"What do you mean Goldenstar's a she-cat!?" Bramblestripe whispered to Riverstream. Riverstream looked to Goldenstar, who nodded, "He's been one his whole life-" Riverstream began before she was interrupted, "Then why are we calling her a tom?!" Bramblestripe hissed. Cloudwatcher glared at her brother, "Stop being so insensitive this is hard for him to say." she said, smiling at Goldenstar. he scoffed and padded off, "A she-cat that thinks she's a tom? How mouse-brained is that.." Bramblestripe muttered.

Cloudwatcher gasped and hissed. She padded over angrily, "He's our leader you can't just say that!" she hissed. Bramblestripe glanced down at her with cold, unforgiving eyes, "A real leader wouldn't lie to her clanmates." Cloudwatcher hissed at Bramblestripe, who kept glaring before blinking and walking off. Goldenstar stood up and padded to the high rock, "I'll have to appoint a new deputy." He muttered as he stood on the high rock.

He yowled in a powerful voice, "All cats old enough to leap from the trees gather round for a clan meeting!" he yelled. The cats trickled in from their dens around the high rock and sat down with whispers before Goldenstar raised his tail for silence. They all began to quiet down as Goldenstar nodded, "Cats of Sunclan I regret to inform you that I now only have one life left." he said while pacing. Gasps came from the crowd of cats. A cat stood up and asked, "How did you lose your 8th life?" they asked. Goldenstar said, "My 8th life was taken from me by Firestorm who was killed by Cloudwatcher after he took it." He explained. Gasps and murmurs continued, along with congratulating Cloudwatcher. Cloudwatcher smiled sheepishly and ducked her head a bit.

Goldenstar smiled and cleared his throat, "The time has come to appoint a new deputy. I say these words before, StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. Cloudwatcher will be the new deputy." Cloudwatcher's jaw hung open. She expected Yellowstream or Mudfoot to be the deputy but not her. She padded onto the high rock and touched noses briefly with Goldenstar. He nodded, "You may now take your place at the base of the Highrock." He said gently. Cloudwatcher nodded and climbed down, sitting neatly at the base of the rock. She looked in the crowd to see Bramblestripe scowling at her as he mouthed, "I should be the deputy, not you." Cloudwatcher looked hurt from that and sighed. Longfur cleared his throat a bit. Cloudwatcher turned to see him sitting there, his paw covering his mouth. He pointed to the elder's den and did it to Bramblestripe. "Cloudwatcher! Cloudwatcher!" The sunclan cats cheered. Cloudwatcher smiled and padded to the elder's den.

Longfur nodded and trotted there with Bramblestripe. Cloudwatcher sat down, "What did you need Longfur?" she asked, smiling at the elder. Longfur sighed, "Bramblestripe and Cloudwatcher have you ever wondered why you look nothing alike?" he asked and stood up. Cloudwatcher smiled, "Lots of siblings don't look alike!" she purred, "You and Scareyes look completely different." she smiled. Longfur shook his head, "We still share similarities in pelt colors even if it's a small amount." Cloudwatcher thought for a bit. "Well I have my mother's eyes and my father's white coat!" she purred, "And Bramblestripe has.." She thought for a bit and realized her brother looked nothing like either of their parents. Bramblestripe growled, "Cloudheart's fur and Echowave's grey stripes!" he hissed. Longfur shook his head, "Cloudheart's fur was lighter. And so were Echowave's stripes." he corrected him, "Yet you have a darker pelt and grey splotches." Cloudwatcher gasped, "Are we half clan..?" she asked quietly, her voice quivering. Longfur shook her head, "You aren't." Cloudwatcher sighed in relief, "But Brambletripe is."

      Chapter 12 Truth

"What do you mean I'm half clan?" Bramblestripe hissed at the elder. Longfur kept his eyes locked with Bramblestripe despite his fury. The golden and white-furred warrior sighed, "You're mother, Cloudheart. She cheated on Echowave with an Adderclan warrior and had three kits." He explained, "You were one of them." Bramblestripe growled at Longfur. He leaned in close to him and smirked, "If I was born with two other kits where are they?" he asked, thinking he outsmarted him. Longfur shook his head, "She gave them away and claimed a fox got to them." He explained, "Or was it a badger.." he thought. Bramblestripe scoffed, "Well what are there names since you know so much!" Longfur sighed at Bramblestripe's denial as Cloudwatcher stared in shock, her whole world crumbling down in front of her.
"I don't know their warrior names but I do have an idea." Longfur meowed. Bramblestripe listened in, "Hawktalon and Owlfeather I remember when the kits were Owlkit and Hawkkit." He explained. Bramblestripe looked into the old cat's eyes but saw only pain and regret. He sighed and looked at Cloudwatcher, her pure white fur now seeming dull. Bramblestripe dipped her head to Longfur, "Thank you for telling us." He spoke softly and left the den. Cloudwatcher followed Bramblestripe, "I can't believe it." she said as they padded to the warriors' den to process the new information. The two cats padded into the den and sat next to each other. Mudfoot walked in, "Bramblestripe, you, me, and Frostpelt have been assigned to a patrol by Goldenstar lets go." he said as he turned around and padded to the camp entrance. Bramblestripe sighed and stood up, "We'll talk later alright?" Cloudwatcher said with a small smile. Bramblestripe smiled back and nodded. Cloudwatcher sighed. She now had so many new duties. Set patrols and guards to watch over Goldenstar. She groaned thinking about it but knew she had to for the clan.
Cloudwatcher took a deep breath and padded over to the warrior's den. She peaked in and saw the warm faces of her clanmates, "Hello!" she purred, "Mudfoot can you go on a hunting patrol with Frostpelt and Lightningfoot?" she asked. Mudfoot nodded, "Sure!" he purred as Frostpelt rose to his paws and gave Mudfoot a short lick on the cheek. She glanced over to Acornbelly, "Acornbelly can you go on a border patrol with Yellowstream and me?" she asked. Acornbelly nodded with a slight blush, "Sure Cloudwatcher." he dipped his head and padded out the den to find Yellowstream. She nodded and padded to the camp entrance to wait for Acornbelly.
He soon arrived with Yellowsteam still looking slightly nervous. Yellowstream purred, "Already taking your status as deputy seriously I see." he chuckled. Cloudwatcher smiled and nodded and stood up and exited the camp with the two toms, "I have to It's my duty now." she said proudly. Yellowstream laughed a bit, "I forgot you were a mouse brain." he joked. Cloudwatcher rolled her eyes, "Let's just get on with the patrol...unless you have bees in your brain!" she said, laughing. They soon arrived at the border they shared with Adderclan, "Acornbelly can you renew the scent markers?" she asked as she kept her ears out for trespassers. He nodded, padding off, and renewed the scent markers before returning and giving Cloudwatcher a curt nod.
They kept quiet as they patrolled the border, "Yellowsteam? Do you still hate me for being so stupid...?" she asked. Yellowstream's gaze softened as he looked slightly confused, "What do you mean?" He asked. Cloudwatcher sighed, "Aspenshade, It was my fault he died." she said, her eyes clouding with grief. Yellowstream watched her for a few heartbeats and smiled, "Aspenshade chose to save you, you didn't know a monster was coming." he said, placing his tail tip on her shoulder. She sighed, "I'm sorry." Yellowstream chuckled, "Theres nothing to be sorry for what's done is done life goes on." he smiled. She let out a breath she had been holding in, "Thank you I-" she was cut off by rustling in the bushes.
Her pupils turned to slits as she got into a fighting stance. Acornbelly and Yellowstream were ready to fight as well. Something leaped out of the bushes onto Cloudwatcher, throwing her onto her back and letting out a loud yowl. She hissed and hooked her back claws onto the now identified rogues, belly fur, and threw them off, "This is Sunclan territory why are you here?" she hissed at them. The rogue was a pure white she-cat with weird red markings on her face. She snarled and turned to face a giant brown tom with the same red markings, "Red It's alright." he smiled softly. He padded over, having a noticeable limp, "Sorry about her I'm Bear this is my sister Red." he introduced himself.
Cloudwatcher smiled, "I'm Cloudwatcher...your leg seems injured." she noticed. Bear smiled and glanced at his leg, "It's been hurting for quite a while now." he explained. She thought for a heartbeat, then smiled, "How about we take you back to our camp to help your leg." she offered. Acornbelly looked shocked, "Cloudwatcher! You can't trust rouges. What if they hurt us!" he said nervously. Yellowstream glared at them, "How can you be sure he's not faking it?" he growled. Cloudwatcher smiled, "Why would Red be so hostile if he was faking it?" she asked. Yellowstream sighed, "You're such a mouse brain." She chuckled, "C'mon let's get them back to camp. Acornbelly can you finish the patrol?" she turned to him. He nodded and trotted into the bushes. Bear dipped his head to them, "Thank you we are very grateful for your hospitality." he lifted his head and gave them a warm smile.
She gave him a curt nod, "Follow us." she turned around and began to walk back to camp, "Yellowstream stay behind them please." he nodded and trotted to the back of the two rogues. Red hissed, "This is ridiculous we don't need help from them!" she glared at her brother. Bear sighed, "I could not turn down this offer Red you know my leg has been injured for a moon now." he said, smiling softly at his younger sister. She growled as they walked through the roofed trees, "Theres far too many tres how do you cats live here!?" she growled impatiently. Cloudwatcher chuckled, "Well we can jump very high." she explained, "About six tail-lengths I'd say." she glanced back, seeing Red look impressed for a heartbeat before returning to her annoyed expression.
The four cats eventually arrived at the camp, "Right in here." Cloudwatcher smiled and walked inside the entrance with Red and Bear behind her. When the two rogues got inside, the whole camp was silent. Bramblestripe hissed, "You mouse-brain letting rogues into the camp!" he trotted angrily over to Cloudwatcher. She glared at him, "I haven't died yet so why are you suddenly the deputy?" she asked, annoyed. Bramblestripe sighed, "Well bring them to Goldenstar she'll know what to do with them." Cloudwatcher's pelt bristled, "He! He'll know." she corrected him and turned to Red and Bear, "Follow me." she said calmly and led them to the medicine den. Riverstream was sorting herbs and heard pawsteps, "Hello! What brings oh!" she exclaimed, shocked seeing the two cats. Cloudwatcher smiled, "He has an injured leg I thought we could help." she smiled softly. Riverstream sighed, "Your lucky it's the middle of green-leaf." she chuckled and walked over to Bear, "Go lay down in one of those nests." she instructed. Bear nodded and padded onto the nest, limping a lot. Riverstream turned to Cloudwatcher, "Go inform Goldenstar that I will be caring for him until he can fend for himself." she smiled softly and turned to Red, "I can see your concern in your eyes but your kin will be fine." she assured her. Red hissed, but her gaze softened seeing Bear lying in a nest.
Cloudwatcher padded to the mouth of the den, "Follow me Red." she smiled and flinched, seeing Red shoot her an untrusting glare as she followed behind her until they reached Goldenstar's den. She padded inside and called out, "Goldenstar!" she saw Goldenstar in his nest, cleaning his fur a lot, "Goldenstar?" she asked nervously and approached him, holding her tail up to Red to have her stay there. Goldenstar was lying on his side as he kept grooming his fur, his pupils were slits, and his fear scent was strong. Cloudwatcher trotted to his side, "Goldenstar please what's wrong?" she asked nervously. Goldenstar glanced up, looking into her eyes, and whispered, "Cloudwatcher...my kits." he muttered and stood up. Cloudwatcher gasped, "Are they coming!?" she whispered back nervously. Goldenstar nodded, "Please, can you get Riverstream and meet me in the Hollow Tree?" he asked and left without waiting for an answer.
