Writing Thread (Just because)
I want to get back to writing on a regular basis. I stopped writing because of work, but lately I've been trying to make more time to be creative/write more often. I saw this really cool online group that was trying to host 5 hour writing marathons for people who were seriously into writing. I have a hard time writing on a regular basis but I do want to. I also have a hard time finding a good writing group online to belong to. I think a writing thread just talking about writing could be cool. My goal is to write for 30 minutes once per week. I was doing well with getting through my story last year, but I threw in the towel. I don't know if I want to start with my story or just write something completely different, but I do want to get back to writing on some level. I thought about doing writing prompts but I got bored with those. I just miss the creativity of being totally involved with writing, reading, and watching good movies - that was my relaxing downtime. Now, it seems, I work a lot and just watch YouTube/listen to music. I want to get back into my art and creative time. I use to enjoy content creation too, but I threw in the towel on creating reading/writing content just because I began to feel overwhelmed with all of my responsibilities.
@sonnieeee
I hope you find time to reignite this passion again 🤗💚

@Amanda84 Hello, I actually started writing today and I feel good. I'm going to try to be consistent with writing at least 30 minutes every Wednesday, thank you for that support.
@sonnieeee
That sounds like a good idea, you are most welcome 💚🥰
Today I'm working on CSS 147 and I'm really proud of how far I've come with my novel, I'm 19K out of 50K words in, soon this novel will be complete and I can't wait but I'm not rushing the process because I'm enjoying the way this story is unfolding. I'm happy that I'm writing this morning, this expression is really helping me with managing my emotions and my mood. I don't really feel like working too hard today so my total focus is on enjoying my story instead of life's demands.
This morning I decided to add to Nice Girls Finish Last. Taking time to add to this novel feels really nice because I thoroughly enjoy the characters and how the story is unfolding, this story isn't hard to write because it's very relatable. Putting at least 15 minutes into my story today means a lot to me, I'm going to work on my website and try my hardest to generate a writer's income digitally.
I'm with you, I love writing but not the pressure that comes with it. I'm not one of those that could do it every day, I draw a blank, but when I have time and I'm less frazzled it tends to pour out more easily.
Maybe you can mix it up, sometimes lighthearted and silly and other times something more meaningful?
I should have wrote down the name but when I was searching for a home to write in, there was a site where you could add to people's stories, sounded interesting but it's not really for me, I don't want anyone else's input on mine, I'm too particular ha.
That’s a good idea to mix it up, I enjoy wiring in different mediums, like sometimes I’m in my journal, other times I’m online and then others I’m on Scrivener. Lately, I’ve been craving Tumblr again because it was really fun to blog.
I do agree that stress levels play a role, it’s hard to care about writing when life is happening.
@sonnieeee With writing I feel like my brain can only handle so much intensity at a time, plus I like variety, so many people seem to assume you have to stick to one topic, nope, I like variety.
I've never heard of Scrivener. Blogger was the easier to use so that was my preference. There's no reason not to use a few platforms.
It's funny that sometimes it's writing itself and other times I am a complete blank but enjoy it :)
I’ll have to look into Blogger, but since you use variety I rely on a variety of mediums to express myself so I enjoy blogging on my Wix account now and I use Scrivener to help me with drafting novels.
But, I feel you on the brain intensity. I find that when I take off of work I want to write more because I enjoy doing it in my down time. Thank you for sharing and responding to this. Having a random moment in the day to talk about writing actually helped me to come down to Earth a little, my day has been intense. I hope you have a good writing session, keep sharing and talking to me - it really means a lot.
@sonnieeee No worries, like you said it's cool to talk to a fellow creator. For me most of the time my brain is bubbling chatting away aching to write so I'm scrambling to get it down.
Blogging is so much easier than writing stories. I could almost do it on autopilot at times. I tried a lot of platforms but as I don't know about coding, I spend time trying to customise it and getting frustrated I couldn't just write.
I tend to write every day but I don't always publish, I experienced burn out as I used to blog 7 days a week and felt that was consuming me, so I limited it to Monday to Thursday and it's so much nicer to have the weekends off :)
I'm glad you had time for it. I'm not the best at it but it's nice how certain topics are universal worldwide.
I also hate people call it my hobby, writing is my life, something I always wanted to do but couldn't.
I'm stuck with the stories I have so many unfinished. Do you also have that voice that says.. This is so boring or silly, it's not interesting, it's not good?
The funny thing, I really like everything I've written but for me, it just doesn't seem good enough for others.
Sorry this got too long, ha. I hope today is either relaxing or productive or both :)
There is no such thing as too long! But, I like the Monday through Thursday schedule. I find that I love research but at times that can become too heavy for me, but I’m considering going back to a certain schedule to make writing possible Monday through Thursday.
I get wanting to write and it being your life, it’s mine too! I love writing because it relaxes me and helps me it’s organizing thoughts.
On Monday I won’t be working, I think I’m going to make it a point to write!
@sonnieeee Sounds like a good plan. I get what you mean about it being relaxing. My clustered weird brain gets to unpack it all and it's really freeing and lighter after that.
Well the other cheeky reason for taking the weekends off was supposedly to work on the stories, I haven't really been diligent though but I guess it will come.
A nice thing is writing a spoof or a short fiction piece about anything really. I remember the craziness of only being able to write in the evenings, late at night when I should have popped to bed.
I was staying up until 3am typing away and being too delirious to edit. I always woke up thinking, did I write trash? But actually it was decent.
I put a stop to that madness though, sleep is far more superior :)
I know what you mean! I use to spend hours writing like that too but it wasn’t good on my mental health. Now, I try to devote at least one or two hours during the day time because it matters.
@sonnieeee That's a good amount to devote to it. I persisted because I was in the zone and sometimes it was really challenging to just begin on a chapter.
I thought the inspiration was going to vanish on me but you're right, we need to look after ourselves.
Do you find your plots change through writing? Or are you strict, I've laid out the ideas and it's going to come together whether it wants to or not lol.
I don't write outlines I make it up as I go and find that every single story changes paths to how I envisioned it but that's fine by me, I just know now not to write chapters in advance because that scene will probably not be used anymore :)
