Where would you be today if you changed one event in your life?
Earlier I was thinking to myself, that things could be so different if I changed one thing in my life. One event, could lead to many ripples.
For example, if I hadn't bought my car when I did in 2022, what are the chances I would have applied for the job and have the career I have now? Or, If I hadn't been so upset with management, would I have had the motivation to look for a better job?
You get the gist. Now use my time machine and go change your history!
@Hopeful0001 it sounds as though you've had a number of instances where things could have played out very differently, given a slightly altered premise. I've often reflected on the idea of the 'inverse doppelganger' (I don't remember where I heard this expression, sadly) where we meet someone who represents who we might have been had we chosen slightly differently a few years prior. This was very unsettling - not as ominous as the folkloric caution against meeting your actual doppelganger, but it pulled me up short. Not in a wistful "if only I had/hadn't done that" but an actual 'oh gosh, this is the anti-me' way.
